The brainchild of Craig and Christina Gabor, Studio 304 officially opened its doors just one month ago. But the concept, Craig explains, has been evolving for years.
“We actually came close to opening a space in Pennsylvania five years ago,” Craig recalls. “Back then, it was just going to be a market. But over time, the vision expanded—especially once we landed in West Virginia.”
Studio 304 offers something rare: three interconnected experiences in one location:
“It’s a clean, crisp environment—Christina had a very specific vision for the space,” Craig says. “We wanted it to feel elevated while still being welcoming.”
Beyond crafts and commerce, Studio 304 is filling a vital need in this small-town community: connection. For local residents—especially mothers of young children—the studio provides a rare opportunity to relax, create, and connect.
“We have a kids’ area with age-appropriate materials, furniture, and even safe, washable paints,” Craig explains. “So while a parent works on something more advanced, their child can be just a few feet away enjoying their own creative project.”
Craig and Christina are makers themselves, having sold handmade soaps and paper crafts at fairs and consignment shops for years. They understand firsthand the challenges small creators: face. That’s why Studio 304 isn’t just a business—it’s a trusted space where crafters can sell, teach, and thrive.
When asked what truly sets Studio 304 apart, Craig doesn’t hesitate: “You might find a gallery, a craft studio, or a local market elsewhere—but you won’t find all three in the same space, supporting one another like this. It’s a community under one roof.”
They’re not just looking for customers. “We’re looking for partners,” he adds. “If you create something worth sharing, we want to help you share it. If you want to teach, we want to help you teach. It’s about growing together.”
The studio’s name—Craft Studio 304—is a nod to their roots. “It’s the area code around here,” Craig says proudly. “This business belongs to West Virginia.”
And while Crab Orchard may be a small town, its heart is big. “We’re only five miles from Beckley,” Craig says, “but it feels like a world apart. Here, people can slow down, create, and be part of something special.”
The Gabors have plans to host formal classes, seasonal events, and even partner with charities like Toys for Tots. They’re open to collaboration and eager to connect with more creatives in the region.
