In a world where the right connection can change everything, one leader is building the rooms where those connections happen. Meet Aisha Isreal, the founder and CEO of Boss Chicks International, a vibrant community dedicated to empowering minority women entrepreneurs by providing them with the tools, resources, and network they need to thrive.
The idea for Boss Chicks International wasn’t born in a boardroom; it started with a conversation. During the pandemic, Aisha, a life coach and event planner, started a podcast. What began as a fun project interviewing “boss chicks” for Women’s History Month quickly blossomed into a powerful movement. The interviews revealed a common thread: a need for greater access to information and resources.
“One of the major things that I noticed between the very affluent and everybody else is access to information, access to resources,” Aisha shares. “And at the end of the day, the bottom line is to be in the right room at the right time. And so I create those rooms.”
And with that, Boss Chicks International was born. Officially established in July 2023, the organization is built on the philosophy of “no gatekeepers, no mean girls.” It’s a space where collaboration triumphs over competition and every member is supported.
At its core, Boss Chicks International is about connection and mentorship. The organization offers a digital platform with industry-specific chat rooms, motivational spaces, and live training sessions. This allows seasoned entrepreneurs to mentor new and budding business owners, fostering a cycle of shared knowledge and growth.
But the connections don’t stop online. Boss Chicks International hosts in-person events, from brunch series to their annual “Boss Up” conference in Chicago, creating invaluable opportunities for face-to-face networking. The results speak for themselves. Aisha recounts a story of a member who, after facing a setback in her jewelry business, attended a conference and connected with an award-winning realtor who is now her mentor.
“I never know who’s going to connect,” Aisha says with a smile. “I just try to make sure that the right people are in the right room.”
Aisha’s passion for helping others is the driving force behind Boss Chicks International. An entrepreneur since the age of seven, she has navigated the business world’s challenges and is committed to helping others avoid the same roadblocks.
“I’m genuine. I’m transparent. And I am helpful,” she states. “I’m real. I’m here. I’m accessible.”
Of course, a visionary leader is supported by a strong team. Aisha is quick to credit her business partners, including Chief Revenue Officer Patrice Hunter, Chief Financial Officer Taryn Ferrer, Chief Marketing Officer Marlena Johnson, and Chief Creative Officer Zakia Gaston-Hobbs. Together, this team of independent business owners works to bring the mission of Boss Chicks International to life.
Having lived in Chicago since 1998, Aisha appreciates the city’s diverse and dynamic business environment. It taught her that it’s possible to successfully manage both a 9-to-5 job and multiple businesses: a lesson she now shares with other women who feel pressured to choose just one path.
Her dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. Aisha has been honored with a Woman of Excellence Award from a SoCal local chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and was named Publishing Partner of the Year in 2024 by Be Well Magazines for her contributions.
For Aisha Isreal and the team at Boss Chicks International, success is measured by the success of their members. It’s about building a community where every “boss chick” has the support she needs to turn her ambitions into achievements.
