When Syracuse resident and lifelong motivator Heidi Monsour launched Motivation by Mail, she introduced a new kind of personal connection: weekly encouragement delivered straight to someone’s mailbox. Her business brings warmth, thoughtfulness, and inspiration to people who need a steady reminder that someone is cheering them on.

Heidi grew up in Atlanta, spent many years in Florida, and eventually moved to Syracuse to support her family. As part of the “sandwich generation,” she balances raising teenagers with caring for aging parents—all while finding ways to bring more encouragement into the world. Her background as a motivational speaker shaped her belief that people don’t just need one uplifting message—they need consistent support to truly feel seen.
The idea for Motivation by Mail began years ago, but it came to life when Heidi prepared to send her son off to college. She wanted to encourage him without overwhelming his phone with texts and calls. Sending a weekly postcard felt like the perfect blend of support and space. That moment sparked the launch of her business—a subscription postcard service designed to brighten someone’s life week after week.
Motivation by Mail is simple and thoughtful:
The result is a steady rhythm of encouragement that arrives right when someone needs it.

These cards offer weekly inspiration designed to boost positivity, resilience, and hope.
This series gently supports someone recovering from surgery, illness, or the challenges that follow a loss.
Perfect for students adjusting to independent life, this series provides steady support through exams, tough weeks, and everyday college challenges.
Many of the postcard images come from photos Heidi and her husband take across Syracuse and the surrounding region. From changing leaves to quiet snowy scenes, the cards reflect the beauty she has grown to love since moving north.
Motivation by Mail currently sends postcards anywhere in the U.S. and American territories, with international expansion planned for the future.
A single message can lift someone’s spirits—but steady encouragement creates lasting impact. Heidi experienced this firsthand as friends reached out during challenging moments. Each message reminded her how powerful support can be. That experience strengthened her mission: to help people feel cared for not just once, but week after week.
When she isn’t creating postcards or building her growing business, Heidi loves to travel and read—two things that continually inspire her creativity and outlook.
Even though Motivation by Mail is newly launched, interest has grown quickly. Everyone who hears about the service responds with the same excitement: it’s simple, meaningful, and truly needed. Heidi hopes to continue expanding the business to reach more people who could use a gentle reminder that someone is thinking of them.
