We sat down with Mary for a quick interview –
Why do you do what you do?
“In 2016, after my divorce, I boldly moved back to college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology. It all started at a detox center, but little did I know that my journey would take me through various facets of drug and alcohol rehab.
“Picture this – I worked diligently at a company for six months, and out of the blue, they decided to shut down their drug and alcohol department. Talk about pulling the rug out from under us!
“Now, let me introduce you to Maureen Lake, my best friend and one of the founders. Although she’s no longer with us, her story is fascinating. Together, our goal is to expand into transitional housing and other programs because we genuinely believe there’s a better way to help our clients. It’s time for a change!”
What services do you offer?
“Our services provide a wide range of options to meet the diverse needs of our clients. When it comes to substance use disorder healthcare, evaluations are a vital first step for those seeking treatment. These evaluations offer clinicians valuable insights into a person’s condition, empowering them to create personalized treatment plans.
“Our outpatient services are flexible, offering one hour of individual therapy and one group session to conveniently fit into an individual’s daily routine while providing therapeutic support.
“Our intensive outpatient program, which consists of one personal session and nine hours of group therapy each week, is recommended for those needing a higher level of care. This program offers more frequent and immersive support without requiring individuals to leave their homes.
“In cases where a higher level of care is necessary, our partial hospitalization program becomes an option. This program typically includes one to two individual sessions and 15 hours of weekly group therapy, ensuring intense therapeutic support while maintaining some independence.
“In conclusion, our comprehensive treatment options cater to individuals’ unique needs, supporting their journeys to recovery and improved mental health in an engaging and captivating way.”
If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a behavioral health care service, what would it be?
“It would be best if you found someone who truly vibes with you. Not all counselors are a match made in heaven for everyone.
“Interestingly, I have clients who rave about me and can’t wait to come back. I have quite a few on my waiting list eagerly awaiting my availability. On the flip side, there are also those clients I couldn’t click with, and we needed to find another counselor to work with them. In those cases, we gracefully transitioned them to another more compatible counselor so they can find their match.
“It’s just like when dealing with sensitive topics like domestic violence or past trauma. It’s essential to consider personal comfort. A female survivor, for instance, may not feel comfortable discussing their experiences with a male counselor. It’s all about knowing yourself, your preferences, and finding the right fit.”
