Meet Dave Koppe: Chicago’s Go-To Website Designer and Local Biz Champion

Today I had the pleasure of interviewing a Local Biz Hero called Dave Koppe—an inspiring Chicago-born web designer, app developer, and family man whose journey from hardship to success is nothing short of extraordinary.

Dave grew up facing tremendous challenges. Alongside his mom and sister, he often found himself without a stable home, relying on women’s shelters for safety and support. But even in the toughest times, young Dave promised himself that he would create a better life for his family and never gave up on his dreams.

“It was tough,” Dave says with humility. “But it taught me the value of hard work.”

When Dave isn’t immersed in work, he’s still at his computer—but for fun! His hobbies include creating 3D games, animation, and modeling. “I guess I just can’t get away from the screen,” he laughs.

Beyond his professional life, Dave is deeply rooted in Chicago’s culture. He enjoys exploring the city’s renowned architecture and art galleries, often taking in the downtown sights on fine days. A lifelong Chicago Bears fan, Dave stays connected to the game through his football-loving son.

Family is at the heart of everything Dave does. Despite a difficult childhood, he now cherishes life with his wife and their family of four kids, ages eight to twenty-four. He also enjoys being part of his wife’s large family, celebrating occasions like Thanksgiving together.
