Meet Lashaun Drew: The Woman Behind The Original Hot Dog Factory

By Jasmine Brackett on May 19, 2024

The Original Hot Dog Factory

Voorhees, NJ – Lashaun Drew opened The Original Hot Dog Factory in December 2020, at the height of the pandemic, and has been thriving ever since. Her  journey into the food industry began over 20 years ago when she managed restaurants for a major chain. Her love for the industry led her to the decision that her next venture would be as a business owner, not an employee.

Bringing People Together

The Original Hot Dog Factory

For Lashaun, food is more than just a meal; it’s a way to bring people together. She views her restaurant as a community hub where people can not only enjoy great food but also relax and connect. The Original Hot Dog Factory offers over 25 varieties of hot dogs, all made with 100% certified Angus beef, along with other menu items like wings, burgers, funnel cake sticks, and vegetarian options.

A Family Affair

The Original Hot Dog Factory is truly a family business, with Lashaun’s son serving as the general manager. She believes in leading by example and has instilled in her children the values of hard work and dedication. Lashaun’s son has learned the business from the ground up, ensuring that he understands every aspect of the operation.

Giving Back to the Community

Staying the Course

In addition to her work at The Original Hot Dog Factory, Lashaun is deeply involved in her community. She is the founder of Staying the Course, a nonprofit organization that supports youth programs and initiatives focused on young women and girls ages 10 to 18. Through initiatives like the “Girl with a Grill,” Lashaun aims to not only feed those in need but also teach the youth the importance of giving back.

Upcoming Events

One of the most exciting events on the horizon for Lashaun is the Voorhees Small Business Showcase Expo Festival on July 13th. This event, which is free to the public, will feature over 150 vendors, a car show, live performances, speakers, and a beer garden. The goal of the festival is to support and highlight small businesses in the community and provide resources and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs.

In conclusion, Lashaun Drew is not just a business owner; she is a community leader, a role model, and a beacon of hope for those looking to make a difference. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact that one person can have on their community.
