In October of last year, that vision became a reality when he and Tina opened the doors to Gorgeous Floors in Jasmine Plaza, right next to the DMV in Ocala.

Their shop offers a wide range of flooring options including vinyl plank, laminate, tile, hardwood, hybrid products, carpet, and area rugs. Installation is handled exclusively by trusted crews Shawn has worked with for more than a decade. They’re deeply involved in their community, donating time to local nonprofits like Gentle Carousel—a program that pairs children with miniature horses to promote reading and confidence.

Their decision to start their own business wasn’t just about profit. It was about creating a better experience for customers and staff alike. “We knew we could offer better service at better prices while treating people the right way,” Shawn explains.

While flooring might not have been Tina’s first love, running a business alongside someone with passion and experience made the journey worthwhile. Today, she runs the operational side of Gorgeous Floors and has even become a tufting enthusiast herself.

“I never thought I’d be using a tufting gun,” she laughs. “But here I am, designing rugs and helping people bring their vision to life.”

The couple’s mascot? A Yorkie puppy who’s just as much a part of the business as anyone else.
