Encouraged by her new husband, Ashlee began to share her cooking and baked goods with more friends and family. With Ashlee’s British roots and Cody’s passion for bringing a piece of that culture to Louisiana, they started a business and named it The Brit Bakehouse. Cody’s military service in the US Army, including a deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom, played a role in shaping their journey. After moving back to the US, the couple chose Shreveport for its central location near relatives in Arkansas, Texas, and Mississippi.

Their family of six is actively involved in the bakery. Cody, Ashlee, and their four children work together to make The Brit Bakehouse a true family-run business.

Since opening in April 2024, The Brit Bakehouse has grown steadily. Plans for expansion include potentially acquiring a food truck to bring their baked goods to more customers. The bakery also prioritizes using locally sourced ingredients, such as peppers and honey, which not only enhance their recipes but also support the community.
