Meet Ziporah Paskman: The Woman Behind “Helping Hands” Who Steps In When You Need It Most

By Janina Benedik on April 15, 2026

Helping Hands

A Florida-based business built on compassion, practical support, and helping people move past overwhelm, one task at a time.

A simple idea, a real need in the community, and a deeply human approach to helping others – this is the story behind Helping Hands.

In Florida’s Greater Venice area, where many residents live independently later in life, Ziporah Paskman is quietly building something powerful: a service designed for the moments when people simply don’t know who to call.

And that’s exactly her tagline.

“I’m the person you call when you don’t know who else to call.”

From Small Jobs to a Big Realization

Helping Hands

Helping Hands didn’t begin as a carefully planned business, but rather as a natural response to everyday needs in the community.

After relocating to Florida, Ziporah started taking on small “odd jobs” through local platforms like Nextdoor.

As she worked with more clients, she quickly began to notice a clear pattern – most of her clients were women over 50, often living alone, who needed help with simple daily tasks but lacked the support system to rely on.

These were jobs too minor to justify hiring a contractor, yet too physically or logistically challenging to manage alone.

Recognizing this gap in the market became the turning point that led her to build Helping Hands into a dedicated service.

More Than Just Tasks-It’s Real-Life Support

Ziporah’s work goes far beyond typical handyman services. She helps people in situations where life temporarily or permanently gets overwhelming.

From assisting someone recovering after surgery, to walking a dog, bringing in groceries, or simply moving laundry across the house – these are small tasks that can quickly become big challenges.

She also specializes in:

  • Home organization and decluttering
  • Storage unit clean-outs
  • Downsizing support

And sometimes, the job is as unexpected as climbing onto a roof to check a pipe – saving a client hundreds of dollars in unnecessary service fees.

Solving an Emotional Problem, Not Just a Practical One

What truly sets Ziporah apart isn’t just what she does, but how she does it.

While many services focus purely on speed and efficiency, she approaches her work with empathy and understanding. For her, it’s not just about completing a task – it’s about helping people move past the overwhelm that often comes with it.

For many of her clients, especially those dealing with years of accumulated belongings, the process is deeply emotional.

Instead of simply clearing things out, Ziporah works alongside them, helping sort what to keep, decide what to donate, and let go of what no longer serves them.

It’s a collaborative process – one that respects both the person and their story.

A Personal Story Behind the Mission

Ziporah’s approach is shaped by her own life experiences.

After losing her mother and sister – both of whom struggled with holding onto belongings – she experienced firsthand how emotional and overwhelming downsizing can be.

Later, during her own move, she faced the same challenges herself, navigating the emotional and physical process of sorting through belongings and deciding what to keep and what to let go.

“I learned how to let go of things,” she says.

That lesson became one of the core pillars of Helping Hands, shaping the way she supports her clients today.

Built for the Community That Needs It Most

Helping Hands primarily serves the Greater Venice area, covering parts of Sarasota and Charlotte County.

Ziporah focuses on providing practical, everyday support to members of the local community – particularly individuals over 50, those living alone, or anyone who may need an extra set of hands with tasks that might otherwise go undone. Her services are designed to provide practical help where it’s needed most, especially for those on fixed incomes or recovering from health challenges.

To ensure her services remain accessible, she offers reduced rates for individuals on fixed budgets or disability, as well as special pricing for military veterans.

She also supports initiatives like the Wounded Warrior Project, reflecting her ongoing commitment to giving back to the community she serves.

Looking Ahead: More Helping Hands

Still in its early stages, Helping Hands is already gaining traction through word of mouth and a growing base of satisfied clients. With increasing demand and a high level of trust from those she works with, the future of the business looks promising.

For Ziporah, however, success isn’t defined solely by growth, but by the impact she has on the people she helps – especially when she can ease a situation that once felt overwhelming.

Looking ahead, she envisions expanding Helping Hands by building a team of like-minded individuals who share her values and approach, allowing her to reach more people across a wider area while maintaining the personal, human touch that defines her service.

A Simple Message to Anyone Who Feels Stuck

If there’s one thing Ziporah wants people to take away, it’s that they don’t have to keep avoiding what feels overwhelming. With the right support, it’s possible to move forward and regain a sense of control.

Sometimes, all it takes is one extra set of hands to make that shift happen.

For those in the Greater Venice area who need help with everyday tasks, organization, or simply getting unstuck, Helping Hands is there to help.

Because sometimes, knowing who to call makes all the difference.
