Denver, CO – In the heart of Denver, a unique fitness studio is changing how people think about movement and wellness. Move With Ease, founded by Katrina Rogers, is not your typical gym. It’s a place where community, personalized attention, and a holistic approach to fitness come together to create lasting change in people’s lives. The studio’s slogan, “Explore, Discover, Emerge,” perfectly encapsulates the transformative journey Katrina offers her clients.
A Personal Journey of Healing and Discovery
Katrina’s path to becoming a movement educator and studio owner is rooted in her own experiences with chronic pain and dissatisfaction with traditional medical approaches. Throughout her high school and college years, Katrina struggled with chronic knee pain, flattened arches, and lower back pain. Despite being an athlete, she found that her coaches never really corrected her form or helped her understand why she was experiencing chronic pain.
“I’ve been let down by the medical world,” Katrina shares. “I remember being 15 years old, running, and experiencing knee pain. The doctor’s solution was to tell me to stop running if I didn’t want pain. Even then, it didn’t make sense to me that the solution to pain in a natural human movement was to stop doing it simply.”
This frustration with the lack of comprehensive care and understanding led Katrina on a journey of self-discovery and healing. She realized that there had to be better ways to address pain and improve body function without relying solely on medication or giving up activities she loved.
Discovering a Passion for Movement Education
In 2007, while working in human resources, Katrina had the privilege of joining a Junior Olympics team in Denver as an adult athlete. Connie Williams, a key figure in Katrina’s journey, welcomed her to the team and provided growth opportunities. Katrina naturally gravitated towards helping young athletes with hurdles, jumps, and form as she trained.
“Some of the coaches would ask when I was going to stop training and start coaching,” Katrina recalls. “I kept saying I wasn’t ready, but Connie didn’t give me a choice. One day, she simply told me when the next season’s coaches meeting was and expected me to attend.”
This push from Connie marked a turning point for Katrina. She immersed herself in coaching, working with the competitive and recreational teams for younger children. As Katrina’s coaching experience grew, she noticed a stark contrast between her feelings about coaching and her corporate job. “I remember going to track practice feeling low on energy,” she shares. “But after coaching, I was energetic and high on life. That’s when I realized I wanted to do this full-time – to work with people and help them improve their lives through movement.”
This realization led Katrina to leave her corporate job and pursue certification as a personal trainer. She hasn’t looked back since. Katrina found her true calling – a path that combined her passion for movement with her desire to help others achieve wellness and vitality.
A Unique Approach to Coaching
Her own experiences deeply influence Katrina’s coaching and training philosophy. “The way I coach is everything that I didn’t get from my coaches or the medical professionals I encountered,” she explains. “I help people understand why they’re in pain, why we’re doing certain exercises, and how to prevent issues in the future.”
At Move With Ease, Katrina focuses on getting people “unstuck” in their bodies. Many clients come with chronic pain, discomfort, or injuries from various reasons—weight gain, previous surgeries, or lifestyle factors. They’re looking for lasting results that will positively impact their everyday lives, but they’re unsure where to start.
“We’re providing an alternative to high-intensity training,” Katrina explains. “Our focus is on mobility training and joint health. We’re focusing on the health of the body for the long term.”
Katrina also strongly advocates for natural and homeopathic solutions to pain and discomfort. While she respects the role of traditional medicine, her ultimate goal is to help people reduce their reliance on pain medication through improved movement and body awareness.
“I want people to know that there are alternatives to surgeries and constant medication,” Katrina says. “Sometimes these interventions are necessary, but often, we can address the root causes of pain and discomfort through mindful movement and lifestyle changes.”
A Supportive Community
One of the most striking aspects of Move With Ease is the sense of community it fosters. “We’re here to help support each other and learn and grow together,” Katrina emphasizes. “We create a judgment-free zone where everyone can feel comfortable exploring movement. Our community is built on mutual respect, support, and a shared desire for sustainable wellness.”
The studio’s approach to inclusivity extends to its programming as well. Classes are designed to be adaptable to various fitness levels and physical abilities, ensuring everyone can participate and progress at their own pace.
Beyond the Studio
When she’s not helping clients at Move With Ease, Katrina enjoys a variety of hobbies that keep her grounded and connected to her community. She’s an avid gardener with aspirations of becoming a master gardener. In her downtime, she enjoys crocheting, hiking, and attending comedy shows – in fact, Move With Ease is a proud sponsor of the High Plains Comedy Festival.
“Laughter is a big part of what we do at Move With Ease,” Katrina explains. “We laugh a lot in our classes. It only makes sense to also be a sponsor of laughter in our community.”
In addition to these pursuits, Katrina is an accomplished blues dancing instructor. Her expertise in blues dancing has led her to win national dance competitions, and she is now sought after as a judge and instructor in the dance community.
Looking to the Future
As Move With Ease grows, Katrina has big plans for the future. She hopes to expand her team and bring on more instructors to help even more people in the Denver area. She’s also focused on building strategic partnerships to help spread her message of holistic wellness.
Move With Ease stands out as a beacon of community, personalized care, and joyful movement in a world that often feels disconnected and high-pressure. It’s more than just a fitness studio – it’s a place where people can rediscover the joy of movement, connect with others, and transform their lives one step at a time. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, feeling intimidated by traditional gyms, or simply looking for a more sustainable approach to fitness, Move With Ease offers a welcoming and effective solution. Through exploration and discovery, Katrina is helping clients emerge as healthier, happier versions of themselves.
