When most people think of a REALTOR®, they picture someone helping clients buy or sell a home. But for Mark Gill, real estate is about something much deeper—it’s about helping clients build wealth, offering lifelong guidance, and changing the way people perceive the industry.
Mark, the founder and team lead of The Hallmark Team at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, brings a refreshing, client-first approach that challenges the transactional norms of the business. His motto, “Real Estate the Right Way,” isn’t just a slogan—it’s a philosophy that shapes every interaction with his clients.
Before entering real estate in 2018, Mark spent 15 years in the international insurance industry, where he worked in sales and corporate strategy. That experience, combined with his passion for mentorship and community involvement, laid the foundation for a service-driven real estate career.
“I realized I was always asking myself, ‘How can I help this person?’” Mark said. “That mindset didn’t change when I got into real estate—it just became the foundation of how I work.”
After researching the industry and learning that REALTORS® ranked among the least trusted professions, Mark saw an opportunity to fill a gap: to treat clients like lifelong partners, not one-time transactions. He stays in contact with every client long after closing—offering advice on maintenance, renovations, refinancing, and even investing.
“I want my clients to love their homes and also build wealth through smart ownership. It’s not just a house—it’s their future.”
“When I show houses, I’m not trying to sell them,” Mark explained. “I’m looking for every reason not to buy it. I want to make sure it’s a good investment, not a money pit.”
Born and raised on the east side of Indianapolis, Mark graduated from Scecina Memorial High School and now lives in Franklin Township with his wife, Nicole, and their three children and grandchildren. Since launching his real estate career in 2018, Mark has helped over 200 clients and closed over $65 million in sales.
He serves clients across central Indiana—from Kokomo to Columbus and Terre Haute to Richmond—but focuses most of his business on the southeast side of Indianapolis.
That local knowledge, combined with a deep understanding of housing construction and real estate law, makes him uniquely qualified to guide both new and seasoned homeowners.
“When I show houses, I’m not trying to sell them,” Mark explained. “I’m looking for every reason not to buy it. I want to make sure it’s a good investment, not a money pit.”
Mark’s leadership extends to The Hallmark Team, a growing group of agents trained under his eight-week mentorship program. But this isn’t your typical real estate bootcamp.
“I don’t teach agents how to fill out forms. I teach them how to read people, evaluate homes, communicate with empathy, and negotiate with confidence,” Mark said. “We’re not here to sell—we’re here to serve.”
Every agent learns about construction fundamentals, personality types, and ethical practices so they can become true advisors—not salespeople.
Mark’s role doesn’t end when the keys change hands. In the last two years alone, he’s helped several former clients become real estate investors—many of whom now own rental properties and are building wealth with his ongoing guidance.
“I help them run the numbers, find the right contractors, and connect with local property managers. Whether it’s a flip or a long-term rental, we treat it like a business.”
Mark also works with out-of-state investors who trust him to find, evaluate, and manage properties from afar. “Some of my investors have never even seen the homes they’ve purchased. They know I’ll handle everything.”
In addition to his business, Mark supports organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Knights of Columbus. He also offers discounts for military families and first responders.
As a certified Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Mark is uniquely equipped to support older adults facing major life transitions. Whether it’s navigating Medicaid eligibility or protecting assets through trusts, he ensures his clients receive the legal and financial guidance they need.
And for Mark, real estate is personal. “When my mother-in-law lived with us and passed away in our home, I learned a lot about empathy, resilience, and being present. It deepened my desire to truly be there for my clients—not just in the transaction, but in life.”
Mark has big dreams. He wants to grow The Hallmark Team across Indiana and potentially expand nationwide. But even as the business grows, the mission remains clear:
“I want to change how people view REALTORS®. I want our team to be known for putting people first, being honest and knowledgeable, and helping families build long-term wealth.”
Whether it’s helping a first-time buyer, advising a senior on estate planning, or guiding someone through their first investment, Mark brings the same dedication and integrity to every relationship.
In a world where buying or selling a home can feel overwhelming, Mark provides more than just guidance—he offers clarity, confidence, and calm. His clients know they can call him years later for advice, and many do.
“Real estate isn’t just about houses,” Mark says. “It’s about people, families, futures. We treat every client like they’re our only client—because that’s how we’d want to be treated.”
When you work with Mark Gill and The Hallmark Team, you’re not just hiring a REALTOR®. You’re gaining a lifelong partner, trusted advisor, and advocate for your success.
