Tanya Lee Raycroft, a painter, photographer, fashion designer, writer, and stylist, wears many creative hats. Her business, Tanya Lee Raycroft LLC, brand Kateris, is more than just a collection of artistic endeavors; it reflects her passion for sustainability, activism, and originality. Tanya’s company blends creativity with a deep sense of purpose.
“My products are all-natural, and I avoid harmful chemicals,” Tanya explains. “Everything is cruelty-free—no animal testing. Our fashion pieces are made from reusable materials and sustainable packaging.” For Tanya, the environment isn’t just a backdrop to her work—it’s a cause she’s dedicated to.
Tanya was born and raised in Ohio and New York. Although her work has taken her to international galleries, she remains deeply connected to her home state. “Ohio is where I started and returned,” she says. But her journey has taken many turns, including a move to New York at 16 and a return to Ohio in 2018 for her sister, who passed from lung cancer in 2019.
Despite her global reach—her art has been showcased in international galleries, including Luxembourg’s prestigious annual art awards—Tanya’s heart remains close to home. New York is where she raised her three children as a single mother, balancing her artistic passions with the demands of family life. “I was always artistic, even as a child,” Tanya recalls. “I sold my first paintings as a teenager, but raising my kids became my purpose.”
Tanya’s artistry isn’t just about creating beautiful things; it’s about making a difference while being a Christian. She describes herself as an environmental activist, working with nonprofits to raise awareness and drive change. “I’m involved in everything from animal activism to supporting cancer patients, addicts, and the homeless,” she says. Her involvement in these causes is evident not only in her volunteer work but also in her business. She donates her artwork to organizations like Helping Hearts Thrift Store in Ohio, where all sales support ministry in family counseling/marriage counseling, “families and communities are foundations for humanity.”
Her fashion pieces reflect her commitment to sustainability. “We do not want to contribute to ocean pollution where clothes are dumped every day,” she says, adding that she strives to keep her prices affordable so that sustainability can be accessible to everyone.
Like many entrepreneurs, Tanya’s path hasn’t always been easy. From a young age, she had to navigate life as a foster child before being an emancipated minor at 16. However, her experiences have shaped her into a resilient and resourceful businesswoman. “I’ve worked in many industries, and I have three college degrees,” she says. I’ve managed in various sectors, but art and fashion are now my focus.”
In addition to her college degrees, Tanya is a certified herbalist and has worked extensively in herbal retail and the beauty industry. Her passion for creativity led her to self-publish her testimony, which is available at Neobook.org and lulu.com, land a feature in Art Closeup Magazine and Artstonish Magazine, and showcase her paintings and photographs in galleries around the world. “I learned that success doesn’t equal fame,” Tanya says. I’m happy doing what I love, and that’s what matters.”
Her business continues to grow, with exciting new opportunities on the horizon. In February 2025, Tanya will participate in The Blox, an online streaming show in Oklahoma. She’s also involved in Project Expometro, a public art movement that promotes creativity and unites artists on a global scale. Recently, Expometro exhibited in Times Square with a billboard collective—a collaborative effort with other artists that brought her work to one of the most iconic locations in the world.
Tanya is not just an entrepreneur and artist—she’s also a proud mother of three and a grandmother of two grandsons-one 15 months and the other due in November. “My children are beginning their families, and I want to leave a legacy for them,” she says. Her faith also plays a central role in her life and business. Her tagline, “God is everything,” reflects her spiritual grounding and her drive to uplift others through her work.
Looking forward, Tanya is excited about expanding her business and continuing to explore new artistic ventures. She’s passionate about helping others, whether through her art, activism, or spreading the gospel. “I like to promote other Christians as much as possible,” she says, adding that her photography often stems from her travels and spiritual journey.
Tanya is straightforward when asked what advice she’d give aspiring entrepreneurs or artists: “It’s hard work. Keep your eyes on God, and he will make a way.” Her story is one of resilience, passion, and creativity—a testament to the power of Jesus: ” He took me from nothing and made me into something.”
