Meet G. S. Gerry: The Genre-Busting Author Turning Life into Literature

An Unconventional Author from Land O’Lakes

In the quiet neighborhood of Land O’Lakes, Florida, resides G. S. Gerry, a writer redefining what it means to be an author. With a background in cybersecurity and a knack for transforming wild personal experiences into laugh-out-loud stories, Gerry isn’t your typical writer. He calls himself an “unconventional author” and with good reason: his books defy genres, blend humor with serious themes, and invite readers into an immersive and often interactive experience.

From Technical Reports to Award-Winning Novels

Gerry didn’t grow up with dreams of becoming a novelist. In fact, his early relationship with books was distant at best. But a bizarre real estate transaction became the unexpected spark that ignited his writing career. That experience turned into his first book, Meth Murder & Amazon, a comedic thriller centered around the chaos of selling a home—complete with mistaken meth labs and phantom corpses. What began as a joke with friends turned into a self-published hit that earned him awards and a growing reader base.

Storytelling That Engages the Reader

What makes Gerry’s writing unique is how he writes with his readers, not just for them. He uses conversational language, pop culture references, and even invites his audience to participate. In his newest book, Trust on Trial, readers are asked to cast a verdict on whether “Trust” (personified as a character) is guilty or innocent. Depending on their decision, readers are directed to different chapters, creating a personalized reading journey.

Books for Everyone, Stories with Soul

Gerry’s work touches on universal themes through highly relatable and often humorous stories. Whether it’s navigating family dynamics in a reality-TV-style narrative, or exploring deeply personal issues like faith and loss, his books offer something for every reader. “If you’re looking for something different,” Gerry says, “you’ll find yourself in one of my stories.”

Giving Back and Staying Grounded

A Navy veteran, cybersecurity professional, father of five, and active member of his church, Gerry’s life is rich with experiences that inform his storytelling. He’s also exploring ways to give back, considering launching a nonprofit inspired by his late daughter, to help spread the message of healing and trust. Through it all, his humor remains his anchor.

Life in Land O’Lakes

Gerry finds joy in the simple thinG. S.—family walks, working out with his teenage sons, and cleaning the pool (even if it’s a chore). After moving from Colorado to be closer to aging parents, he’s embraced the Florida sunshine and his local community. “Being back in Florida has been a blessing,” he says, appreciating the warmth of both the weather and the people around him.

What Sets Him Apart

Breaking literary rules is part of Gerry’s signature style. He plays with language, challenges traditional storytelling, and speaks directly to the reader. With humor as a core element, his books are both entertaining and thought-provoking, blending real-life experiences with fictional flair.

A Growing Legacy

Now three years into his writing journey, G. S. Gerry is seeing momentum. Book sales are rising, his email list is growing, and his social media following is expanding despite the occasional challenge (like Instagram misinterpreting his book titles!).

“Writing started as a hobby,” Gerry reflects, “but it’s become so much more. It’s my way of sharing laughter, lessons, and life.”
