MiMi Stylz, born Shamika Smith, welcomes each guest like family. “People carry so much when they walk in. I want them to leave feeling lighter,” she says.
Tucked inside Green Valley Station, The Thairapy Suite is a natural hair and loc salon suite built with purpose. The turquoise walls bring calm. Gold accents add a sense of strength. Black details give it edge and presence. It’s a space designed to hold you, not just style you.
“Doing hair is an energy exchange,” MiMi explains. “My space has to match the peace I want my clients to feel.”
MiMi doesn’t just style hair. She cares for it. Her focus is on natural textures, with a specialty in locs—whether you’re starting fresh, in need of repair, or somewhere in between. She also offers scalp therapy, silk presses, color, barbering, and hair education.

“I treat every head like it’s my own,” she says. “This isn’t about trends. It’s about health, confidence, and care.”
What makes The Thairapy Suite truly different is the one-on-one attention. No double-booking. No noisy distractions. MiMi’s full focus is on the person in her chair. Clients often describe the experience as peaceful, even therapeutic.
“I want people to feel safe here,” she says. “To know they can let go for a while. That someone is taking care of them.”
The name “MiMi” came from her late husband’s grandmother. After losing her husband while pregnant, MiMi returned to the salon as a way to reconnect with herself. In that process, she discovered something deeper.
“I realized I could help others heal too,” she says. “I could create a space I once needed.”
Opening The Thairapy Suite was her way of turning pain into purpose. She built it from the ground up, guided by faith, family, and a commitment to do things differently.
MiMi lives in Las Vegas, but her heart is in Henderson. Her clients come from all over—some drive across state lines, others fly in. Many have been with her for years.
“They’re not just customers. They’re clients. They trust me, and I don’t take that lightly.”
She often gives more than she charges for. Not for recognition, but because she believes in serving her community with care.
MiMi envisions The Thairapy Suite growing into multiple locations, each with the same peaceful, intentional vibe. She also wants to teach others how to care for hair the way she does—with patience, knowledge, and heart.
For now, she’s focused on the people who walk through her door. One appointment at a time, she’s helping clients feel more whole.
