For the past 7 years, Dr. Kyler McEwen and his Riverside Dental team have been painting smiles on everyone in Dallas Fort Worth. Young Adults, Senior Citizens, even 6 months old infants.
“What makes us different is that our patients get red carpet treatment regardless of who they are and where they are from. In addition, we have state-of-the-art technology. For example, we use Cerec which is based on a CAD-CAM technology that allows a patient that needs a dental crown or implants to get them on the same day by digitally scanning the patient and visually showing the result before even the procedure is performed. Our patients leave on the same day with all-white tooth color crowns whereas 80% of the practices still use the traditional methods that would require a patient to come back 2 weeks later to get their crowns. With this technology, we can digitally plan surgical implant placement before we ever cut on the patient. So we know exactly where we are going to place it, how deep it’s going to go so we are not hitting any other structures. With this technology, we can also do digital orthodontics, the clear line of therapy.
I am also a fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry in which only 7% of practicing dentists in America have received a fellowship that requires 500 hours of continuing education after dental school and you have to pass a board exam to qualify. I spend almost 200 hours every year in education to update myself with the latest in dental practice. I do all this to provide my patients with the best experience possible.”
Dr. McEwen is the owner and practicing dentist at Riverside Dental Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, a Utah-born and raised, a resident of the Fort Worth Keller area, and of course a raving Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan. Through his involvement with Keller Youth Association, Dr. McEwen loves to coach baseball and basketball to young boys.
Dr. McEwen is what we like to call a Local Biz Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to his community. High standards of professionalism and the strong work ethics of small business owners like Dr. McEwen is the infrastructure of the Dallas Fort Worth economy.
Do not take it from me, just look at what some of his grateful patients say about him and his team on Google:
1. “Riverside Dental is a great place to go, especially if you are apprehensive about going to the dentist. Stephanie was my hygienist and she was one of the kindest people I have met in a while, as well as being excellent at her job. Dr. McEwen explains everything you need to know in an easy-to-understand fashion. He asks multiple times about any questions or concerns, never leaving you feeling rushed or uncared about. He also checks in multiple times during the cleaning to make sure you are comfortable and there is no pain. Patient care from beginning to end is clearly made a priority here by all members of the staff!” – By April Townsend
2. “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!!! Very friendly, caring, and patient. Totally understood my pain and how I felt. They got me in quickly and tried to make it as easy on me as they could. I have a new dentist. For life!!!! I have returned twice for procedures and can’t say enough about how caring and understanding I found all of the people there!!! They bent over backward to help me feel safe and to make sure I was as comfortable as possible with everything that was done. They texted me afterward to
check on me too. After years of remembering bad experiences with dentists and being so afraid of them, I am no longer avoiding the dentist! I can’t thank them enough for that!!!!” – By Lisa Brubaker
Every dollar that Dr. McEwen makes goes back to supporting the local business ecosystem and the community as Dr. McEwen supports the community church and the local grocery stores, as well as doing long-term volunteer work like public cleanups.
We sat down with Dr. McEwen for a quick interview –
Q: Why do you do what you do?
A: “I come from a large family, my Mom and Dad had 10 kids. My Dad worked in a coal mine his entire life before retirement and both my parents never attended college. So they were very big on their kids’ education so that they can have a better life. My parents instilled the value of education so we can give back to the community. Outside of my family, I have a couple of close family friends who were dentists and I had a very positive experience with them which led me to take interest in dentistry.”
Q: How did you get into this profession?
A: “After my undergraduate at Southern Utah University, I continued my education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston Massachusetts. While there, I got involved in the science of dental materials, and I was recognized for my award-winning research and became a national finalist in the Dentsply/Caulk student research competition and presented my research in Boston, Seattle, New York, and Charlotte. After Dental school, I never looked backed and started pursuing the idea of opening up my dental practice. I always continue to stay up to date with the cutting edge of dental materials and technology and I am enthusiastic when it comes to continuing education and enhancing my skills.”
Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a cosmetic dentist, what would it be?
A: “I can give you an example of a patient before I share my tip. A couple of weeks ago, we had a cosmetic dentistry case from this girl who had her veneers done one and a half years ago from different dental practice and she came to me to have them redone and the reason is that you can go to any dentist for cosmetic dentistry and they would never turn away such cases but you are going to get a drastically different outcome from dentist to dentist based off of a lot of things like a dentists’ experience, the lab that a dentist uses, and the technology that the dentist uses. So this girl spent thousands and thousands of dollars just a year and a half ago only to find out that she didn’t like any of the work they did. They didn’t preview the procedure and how she is going to look after the procedure and as a result, she was not satisfied. From me, my patients are always going to know how they are going to look like before I ever give them a shot or cut on their teeth because I work with arguably the best dental lab in the world, and the way we do it is that our patients are going to know exactly how they are going to look like before even they invest their valuable time and money.
So the advice I am going to give is to do your homework. Don’t just go to anybody just because they’re offering a very good deal because you’re going to get what you pay for. Even though you may go to a dentist that says he/she can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars, the truth is that he/she will have to cut corners somewhere. I find that the patients who do their due diligence and do research are the ones that get the best results.”
For those of you who are looking for a professional family and cosmetic dentist who treats patients with attention and compassion, Dr. McEwen and the Riverside Dental team should be your first choice.
