When Kyle Krause describes his new venture, Human Artistic Collaborations (HAC), he doesn’t just talk about business, he talks about a mission. “My goal is just to advocate for artists. I want as many people to see my artists’ work as possible, and to make them as much money as possible,” he says in a recent interview. “If I do that right, I make money too. But my goal is really just to have more art and beauty around this world because right now things are looking kind of dark.”
This heartfelt drive powers everything at HAC, a fresh and innovative art management company with a unique business model and a vision to bring art out of the shadows and into the spotlight—especially for artists who might otherwise struggle to find an audience.
Kyle Krause is no stranger to hard work. For the past eight years, he’s been in construction—roofing, siding, and working with the laborers’ union. “It’s lifting 70-pound shingles while bouncing on a slant on a hot roof,” he laughs. “But I know my mouth is my best asset. My ability to talk and negotiate with people is really a better asset than breaking my back.” This realization led him to look for new opportunities, especially after years of collecting art and supporting his artist friends.
Kyle’s background as a collector and fan gave him insider knowledge of the art scene. He saw how artists often struggle with the business side of things—finding buyers, negotiating deals, and marketing their work. “Most artists just want to do their art. They don’t want to have to sell it or find opportunities for people to see it. They just want to do what they want to do and have people see it,” he explains.
The idea for HAC was sparked on New Year’s Eve, when Kyle attended an event called Elevated Frequencies in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. There, he saw a projection mapper bring a still painting to life, animating it with light and motion. “It blew my mind. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Why have I never seen anything like this before?” he recalls.
From that moment, Kyle was determined to take the concept to a larger scale. He envisioned a collaborative art installation—a mural that would come alive with projection mapping, creating an immersive experience for viewers. He assembled a team of artists, each bringing their own style and vision to the project.
HAC is built around a simple but powerful idea; help artists who don’t have traditional representation get seen, get paid, and get opportunities. Kyle currently represents about a dozen artists, many of whom are active in the electronic music and festival scene—a demographic that’s passionate about art but often overlooked by mainstream galleries and managers.
Here’s how it works:
Kyle recently hosted HAC’s first major event: the debut of a large, five-piece collaborative art installation at Brühaven in downtown Minneapolis. This installation features projection mapping, turning static murals into dynamic, animated displays. The project is the result of months of planning, collaboration, and experimentation—including a successful test run at the In4Sound Music Festival, where HAC’s Facebook and website engagement quadrupled.
“The engagement on my Facebook page and website have probably quadrupled since then,” Kyle says. “There was about 8,000 people there and all 8,000 are directly my demographic for this company. They’re all electronic music fans and art fans.”
HAC’s ideal client is anyone who loves art, especially the vibrant, psychedelic styles that flourish in the electronic music and festival scene. Prices vary—from $20-$30 for paper prints to $1,500 for original commissioned paintings, and up to $2,500 for murals. But HAC’s real value is in its ability to offer a range of styles and mediums, and to handle everything from murals to logos to digital marketing for businesses looking to refresh their brand.
“Say someone’s just starting a new business and they’re going to need a new website, digital marketing, a mural, paintings, a new logo—they can just have a conversation with me,” Kyle explains. “I can talk to my artists and come back with options that fit. Instead of them having to talk to a bunch of different artists individually, it all feels connected and cohesive.”
Like any new business, HAC has faced its share of challenges. Keeping financial records organized is a work in progress, and building credibility in a crowded art scene takes time. But Kyle is optimistic. He’s teamed up with respected figures in the electronic music and art world to promote his upcoming event, and he’s already planning future pop-ups and collaborations—including a game night to showcase local artists and a new board game called Scale, Enter the Dragon.
Looking ahead, Kyle plans to keep expanding the roster of artists and, eventually, hire additional managers to help as the company grows. His vision is to create a rotating gallery at Brühaven, where art is constantly refreshed and sold directly off the wall—creating a sense of urgency and excitement for visitors.
At its heart, HAC is about more than just sales and events. It’s about bringing more color, joy, and connection into the world. “Things are looking kind of dark,” Kyle says. “I feel like this is really the best way that I know to contribute a little bit of happiness, brightness, and color into a world that is starting to look a little bit grim, and I don’t like it.”
With his passion, creativity, and commitment to supporting artists, Kyle Krause and Human Artistic Collaborations are poised to make a lasting impact—not just in Minneapolis, but wherever art and community intersect.
