For the last four and a half years, Jeryll Steige and the team at Rusty Ravens Uniques have been providing valuable antiques, fashionable clothing, and nifty knick-knacks and trinkets to residents of the Anchorage area. The store also offers antique repairs and woodworking.
“What makes us different is that we are malleable with our prices. Our store also gives off a perfect vibe; we have retro music playing.”
Jeryll has been a resident of Anchorage since the late 60s, surrounded by the antique business since youth. She is a big fan of sports and arts in general, including gymnastics, track, football, baseball, and basketball, as well as competitive poker. She also helps care for her mother 24/7.
Jeryll is what we like to call a Local Biz Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings actual value to her community. High standards of professionalism and the vital work ethics of small business owners like Jeryll are the lifeblood of the economy of Anchorage.
We sat down with Jeryll for a quick interview –
Q-Why do you do what you do? How did you get into this profession?
A- “Ever since I was young, I had been around the antique business. I’d also say I’m a people person.”
Q- What is the most significant event that ever happened to you?
A- “I was a cake artist before going into this business. I also competed on the Food Network and won a competition.”
Q-What was the biggest lesson you learned from the previous experience?
A- “When you’re competing in anything, don’t try being risky or new. Stick to what you know and what you’re good at.”
Q- If you could share one tip for choosing you and your shop, what would it be?
A- “The shop has an eclectic mix of new and old and has a little bit of something for everybody.”
For those looking for a shop with countless items, quality service, and a real good vibe, then Jeryll and Rusty Raven Uniques should be your first choice.
