When Kristina Olson decided to leave behind a 20-year career in the financial services industry, she didn’t just switch professions—she found her calling. Today, Kristina is the heart behind Calming Touch Massage Therapy, a thriving practice based in the Millard area of Omaha, Nebraska, serving both sides of the Missouri River.
Licensed in both Nebraska and Iowa, Kristina provides therapeutic massage therapy for people from all walks of life, with a special focus on clients managing chronic pain conditions. From fibromyalgia and lupus to arthritis and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Kristina’s approach to massage helps reduce pain and improve quality of life in natural, drug-free ways.

“I really enjoy helping people,” Kristina shared. “Therapeutic massage can make a huge difference for people living with pain. It’s about more than just relaxation—it’s about healing.”
Kristina’s clientele spans a diverse age range. She works with young athletes who benefit from sports massage and recovery sessions, as well as older adults who rely on regular therapy to maintain mobility and comfort. Her empathetic approach and deep care for each individual client is what truly sets her apart.
Kristina’s leap into massage therapy was inspired not only by a desire for more meaningful work, but also by personal experiences. Her husband experienced a stroke, and massage therapy became a crucial part of his recovery journey. Witnessing his progress firsthand was a powerful motivator.
“With finance, I felt like a cog in a machine. With massage therapy, I feel like I’m truly making a difference in people’s lives. That’s why I do what I do.”

Calming Touch Massage Therapy is more than just a business—it’s part of the community. Kristina actively supports local causes, including sponsoring a walk-a-thon for a local Catholic school. This initiative helped raise funds for new playground equipment, driven by her personal connection to the school through family.
In addition, Kristina is a proud Community Care Network provider for the VA. This means veterans with a referral can book sessions with her at no cost, as services are covered by the VA. It’s just one of the ways she gives back to those who have served.
First-time clients enjoy $10 off their initial session, and an effective referral program encourages word-of-mouth growth. Existing clients who refer new customers receive $10 off their next session once the referral takes place..
Kristina’s massage studio offers a welcoming, calming space designed for relaxation and healing. With both indoor and outdoor photos of the space available, it’s clear that Calming Touch lives up to its name.
Living in Council Bluffs and working in Omaha gives Kristina a unique appreciation for the blend of city convenience and small-town charm. “You can get anywhere in about 20 minutes, and you’re never far from nature,” she said. “It’s the perfect mix.”
Outside of her practice, Kristina indulges in baking—especially cakes and cookies—and even crafts her own vanilla and almond extracts for use in her recipes. Her attention to detail and care extends from her massage studio to her kitchen, reflecting a passion for creating things that bring comfort and joy.
Though Calming Touch Massage Therapy is still in its early years, the growth is steady and promising. “It takes time to build a business,” Kristina said. “But I’m happy with the direction we’re going.”
With a growing client base, strong community ties, and a heart-centered mission, Kristina Olson and Calming Touch Massage Therapy are making a difference—one healing session at a time.

Colorado – What do Journey, the 1812 Overture, Doctor Who, and Denver, Colorado all have in common? I know that might sound like the setup to a lame joke. However, what ties all those dissimilar things together is anything but lame. I am talking about the exciting music company, Tchaikovsky – Bad Wolf Entertainment! Okay, […]
