Mike, the heart and mind behind Mike Writes for Kids, LLC ™, is not your average children’s author. Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, he’s balancing a day job at LabCorp while building a growing literary brand that shines a light on everyday heroes. His books, co-authored with his wife, explore career themes and aim to expand children’s horizons beyond the usual narratives of sports and entertainment.
Unlike typical picture books, The Little Careers Universe™ series is built around real-life professions. The stories feature firefighters, dispatchers, drivers, and more, showcasing what it really takes to do these essential jobs. But these books go far beyond storytelling. Mike and his wife also run engaging workshops that help kids improve penmanship, learn their addresses, and grasp the foundational skills they’ll need to apply for jobs in the future.

The idea for Mike’s career-based books started at home. As a father, he wanted his children to grow up knowing there were more paths to success than just athletics or entertainment. Living through the era of essential workers during the pandemic made this mission even clearer. Now, his stories help kids across the country discover new dreams—ones rooted in service, contribution, and curiosity.
This is not just a side hustle or a passion project. Mike and his wife are building a brand with a strong mission. They’ve created a whole ecosystem around just two books, with plans for more. Their approach is deeply rooted in education and empowerment, and it’s resonating with readers. Their second book was even featured on a Times Square billboard, and recently, Mike’s wife received an International Impact Award for her contributions.

Greensboro has proven to be fertile ground for Mike’s creative endeavors. With a strong local arts scene and a community that embraces cultural engagement, Mike and his wife often find themselves invited to participate in seasonal events and creative showcases. The support they receive locally has played a big role in their growing visibility.
Charity and community involvement are also baked into the DNA of Mike Writes for Kids™. Monthly donations go to colleges and local organizations, and books are often gifted to schools and events. Mike’s wife takes the lead on this front, ensuring that the company’s success also benefits others.
Despite their busy schedule, Mike still finds time to enjoy life outside of work. From swimming with his kids to training his son in sports, family time remains a top priority. Exercise and relaxation help him stay grounded, while writing continues to be a joyful creative outlet.
With three active years behind him, Mike is optimistic about the future. The momentum is undeniable. New content is on the horizon, and their growing recognition—including billboard features and awards—shows that their work is making an impact. Upcoming events like back-to-school bashes are already in the works, and fans can stay updated by following their site and socials.
Mike’s journey is a powerful reminder that everyday people can inspire, educate, and build meaningful businesses—all while raising a family and working full-time. To learn more about him and his books visit his website.
