While cosmetology covers various beauty services, it was the skincare portion of her training that truly captured her heart. “I didn’t really care for doing hair, but once we got to the skin part, I fell in love with it,” she recalls. Her passion for skincare drove her to pursue specialized training at the Aveda Institute in Washington, D.C., where she studied under the assistant to Aveda’s founder.

The experience proved transformative. “She told me, ‘This is what you need to be doing. You shouldn’t be doing anything else. This is what you need to do,'” Leeta remembers. For the next 15 years, she worked as an independent contractor in various salons and spas throughout the D.C. area, honing her skills and developing her unique approach to skincare.

After taking time away to focus on raising her younger children as a stay-at-home mom, Leeta later worked for the school system for a few years once her daughter entered school. However, she realized it wasn’t the right fit. When both of her youngest children entered grade school together, she knew it was time to return to her true passion.
