Central Jersey – Meet Starlight Barfight, an all-female LGBTQ cover band that’s been rocking out across New Jersey since its inception during the pandemic. With a unique blend of pop rock, grunge, and punk, this band isn’t just making music; they’re making a statement.

Founded by Tiffany White, a passionate drummer and manager, the band was born out of a desire for creative fulfillment and connection. Tiffany, who had been a roller derby skater, needed a new project that could offer the same sense of community and excitement. “Music has always been therapeutic for me. It’s got me through so many times,” she shares. “I wanted to create a band that could bring that same feeling to others.”

The Band Behind the Name

The band’s name, “Starlight Barfight,” is a playful nod to their love of contrasts—light and dark, fun and fierce—drawing inspiration from the adult cartoon Disenchantment and their roller derby days. The name was the brainchild of their singer, Marci, and it perfectly captures the band’s dynamic personality. Alongside Tiffany, the four-member band includes their singer Marci, guitarist Joey, and bass Leslie, who bring flavor and influence to the group.

A Different Kind of Cover Band

What sets Starlight Barfight apart from other cover bands is their unique identity as an all-female LGBTQ band. “We’re not your typical cover band,” Tiffany says. “We all work well together, and it flows.”

Their eclectic setlist includes the grunge hits of Nirvana and Alice in Chains, the pop-punk anthems of No Doubt, and the classic rock vibe of “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. They don’t just replicate these songs—they infuse them with their unique energy, making their performances memorable for every crowd.

Performing Across New Jersey and Beyond

Starlight Barfight has played at some of New Jersey’s most iconic venues, including the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. “It was a huge milestone for us to perform at such a famous music venue,” Tiffany recalls. They’ve also played at private events like weddings and parties and are eager to expand into more private gigs.

They have become a familiar name in the local music scene, covering a wide range of locations, including Middlesex, Union, Ocean, Monmouth, and Bergen counties. They’re known not only for their diverse setlist but also for their dedication and professionalism—always showing up on time, never missing a gig, and bringing an electric energy to every performance.

Giving Back to the Community

Starlight Barfight isn’t just about music; it’s committed to giving back. The band has supported various fundraisers, and its recent goal is to assist the LGBTQ youth and homeless community. It’s also involved with local animal adoption groups like Jersey Cats, where it has helped raise funds through performances.

Looking Ahead

Starlight Barfight is focused on writing and recording original music as it continues to build its reputation. They’re excited about their future and eager to bring their unique sound to new audiences. With upcoming gigs booked through January and plans to expand their performance reach, this band is ready to make an even more significant mark.
