For the past 25 years (Aug 1997 to Aug 2022), Gargi Bagchi of Asavari has been “making dreams come true” for amateur singers and dancers by serving the Westchester, Queens, New Jersey and Long Island areas. Gargi is the founder, CEO and creative director of Asavari LLC or asavari.org. Asavari is celebrating its silver jubilee on Saturday, October 15, 2022. This will feature a variety of entertainments. Asavari is working on an international level now. This year’s drama is ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’, based on a Turkish story that is classic and historic.
“What makes Asavari different is that we make everything very dramatic. I do everything from the bottom of my heart and soul because I am very creative and love it. I feel that if you have no love for it then there is no creativity. I believe in the quality of my work over quantity!” Gargi said.
Gargi Bagchi has lived in Westchester county, New York, for many years. The thing she loves the most about Westchester is the rolling hills and the beauty the different seasons bring to the trees.

Gargi is very creative and enjoys traveling to take in nature – it brings peace and inspiration. She is what we like to call a local biz hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to her community. High stands of professionalism and strong work ethics of small business owners like Gargi are the infrastructure of the Westchester economy. She respects and supports women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship and freedom of speech.
Why do you do what you do?
“I believe everyone has a dream. A dream to own their own business, to be a great singer, dancer or just an art lover. I want to be there to help these people see their dreams come true in whatever way I can. I enjoy seeing a client come in, learn and grow,” Gargi said.
What’s the most unusual situation that ever happened to you during a lesson?
“Well, I can’t think of anything specific. I give lessons to amateur actors, singers and artists. So, from time to time I may get a student who wants to learn to sing or dance or act but really doesn’t have the capabilities. It can be very challenging to work but I love the challenge and work really hard to help them make their dreams a reality.”
What type of lessons do you offer?
“I offer private lessons in Kathak, classical North Indian Dance, Bollywood and Ethnic Indian dancing, along with vocal lessons and playing different instruments (Harmonium, Keyboard, Manjira). I mainly work with amateurs. I have a studio but I do travel to my students, sometimes traveling two to three hours away from my home. I also offer virtual lessons… teach acting and have presented many dramas over the years.”
For those of you who are looking for a professional lesson in dance, vocals, instrumentals or acting, Gargi at Asavari should be your first choice. She offers many more services that you can check out on her websites: www.asavari.org and https://asavariny.wixsite.com/asavari
