Rob Newbern, an engineer and long-time advocate for reform, is proud to announce his independent write-in candidacy for President of the United States. Running under the name Rob Newbern, which utilizes his mother’s maiden name for simplicity and recognition, Rob is stepping up as a candidate for “honorary president” with the mission of enhancing democracy and reducing political corruption.

“I am not running for fame or fortune, but for my country,” says Rob Newbern, who is campaigning with a clear goal: to bring about a new democratic structure where the power is in the hands of the people, not individual leaders or special interests. He proposes a shift to an executive council-style leadership, inspired by the Swiss democracy—the world’s oldest democracy—which he believes would end the abuse of presidential power and bring true representation to the people.
Newbern’s platform emphasizes creating an “honorary presidency” in the United States to ensure that no single leader becomes an unchecked figurehead. This would eliminate what he calls the “golden seat,” where power is concentrated in the hands of one individual. Instead, he advocates for an executive council where decisions are shared to prevent taxpayer money from being misused.
“We need a new system, a truly democratic one, where no individual leader can accumulate unchecked power. The taxpayers are tired of being ripped off, and it’s time for a change,” says Newbern.
Rob Newbern’s vision is not limited to reforming politics on Earth—he is thinking of humanity’s next frontier. With private initiatives aiming for lunar exploration, such as Elon Musk’s moon base aspirations, Rob believes having an effective, fair governance model that extends beyond our planet is crucial.
Newbern’s political journey has been anything but ordinary. In the early 2000s, he famously went to Washington, D.C., to hand-deliver a citizen’s indictment against President Bush, an act which led to a brief detainment by Capitol Police. “I’ve always believed that no one, not even the president, should be above the law,” Newbern asserts, citing the influence of the Magna Carta on his belief in the accountability of leaders.
Rob Newbern has been advocating for independent candidates for many years. He highlights the significant number of Americans who no longer feel represented by the two-party system, referencing a startling statistic: 51% of voters are independents with no true representation. “There are millions of people who have no one to vote for. It’s time they had a choice,” he adds.
Rob’s vision for the future includes online ballots to ensure that independent votes count. He believes that the current system, which forces voters into Republican or Democrat labels, disenfranchises a huge swath of the electorate. By allowing independents to download and submit ballots directly, he hopes to empower those without representation.
Rob’s message is one of reform, fairness, and genuine service to the country, inspired partly by his father’s 30 years of military service. He sees the increasing concentration of power and wealth in the hands of political elites as a direct threat to the American dream.
Rob Newbern’s campaign, however, is not without challenges. As an independent candidate without significant financial backing, breaking through the established two-party media coverage remains an uphill battle. Still, Rob is undeterred: “This is about my country. We have to make it work, and I’m here to offer another better choice for America.”
