Mployable Wants to Revolutionise The Recruitment Industry in Somerset!

Rosie Skinner

For the past 4 years Rosie Skinner and her Mployable team of “talent strategy experts” have been helping Somerset’s businesses reduce the stress of recruitment.

“What makes us different is that we get involved in the early planning stages of people resource, organizational design, and recruitment forecasting to ensure our clients stay ahead of the curve by developing consistent processes that are aligned with their wider business goals.  We integrate our talent strategy and business alignment sessions as standard to ensure that our clients have the right people in the right place at the right time to grow their business.”

Rosie Skinner, the owner of Mployable a talent strategy and organizational design consultancy, currently lives in Evercreech and is a lover of Bath.

Rosie is what we like to call a Local Business Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to the community.  High stands of professionalism and strong work ethics of small business owners like Rosie are the foundation of the Bath economy.

We sat down with Rosie for a quick interview.

Q: Why do you do what you do?

A: “Mployable was started in early 2018, with one mission, to disrupt the recruitment industry. Frustrated with the recruitment options available to growing businesses, I knew there had to be a better way for companies to scale their staff in line with the needs of their business. The biggest issue most businesses have with their recruitment is not aligning the wider business strategy with their talent strategy.  This often leaves them in what we like to call ‘recruitment firefighting mode’ – always one step behind and needing new staff ‘yesterday’. We work with businesses to find that alignment, making the actual recruitment itself almost a byproduct of getting the strategic work right.”

Q: How did you get into this profession?

A: “After over ten years in HR and recruitment I had a sense that small to medium-sized businesses were not being served particularly well in that space – particularly from a strategic perspective.  After some deep thought about what types of services I could provide so that business could recruit well without having the expense of a full-time recruitment manager the idea of a talent strategy consultancy was born, essentially an outsourced in-house strategic recruitment manager.”

We have had fantastic success so far (including an award for the most innovative recruitment service – SME News) and I couldn’t have done it without Lucy my Client Services Coordinator and absolute superstar, she has been pivotal to the success of the company.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: “I love spending time with my husband and 3-year-old daughter as well as walking daily, yoga, cooking, and mindfulness. I’m also a published author and have recently written a book titled “The Recruitment Revolution: The Blueprint For High-Growth Hiring”, which is a step-by-step guide for business owners to build their recruitment systems and processes.”

Q: What is the most unusual job, that you have had?

A: “I grew up in Cornwall, and whilst I was at college, I worked at the Sea Life Trust, Seal Sanctuary as a visitor host; my main job was to oversee the rock pool.”

Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing the right people for their business, what would it be?

A: “Ask yourself and your team if your current recruitment strategy is really working for you?  Do you get the results you need or are you constantly in ‘recruitment firefighting’ mode?  Don’t let recruitment be an afterthought, really focus on how you can integrate your recruitment needs with the ethos and objectives of your company.”

Mployable

This is what the clients say about Mployable.

I have introduced the team at Mployable to several of my clients all of whom have been delighted at the service, the results, and the value they offer. If you want a cost-effective in-house, controllable, tailored, and flexible recruitment process… there is no better solution (that I have found). Oh, and they are friendly and fun too!

Great service from Rosie. She genuinely takes the time to listen to what you are after and delivers. I am already talking to her about our next recruit.

Obtaining good quality people is essential to the continuing success of our business. However, using traditional agencies can be scary in many ways and not always cost-effective.  We found the traditional route would have ironically hampered our future growth by potentially delaying a physical move. Therefore using Mployable was the best decision we have made.  A professional and friendly service which took the day to day pressure of recruitment off our hands.  We would 100% recommend Rosie as a person to speak with and Mployable as a company to deal with if you have any recruitment requirements. 10/10 🙂
