Terry’s journey with the Trapillankey began in an extraordinary way. One night, he experienced a dream so vivid and powerful that it would change the course of his life. In this dream, a light spoke to him, saying, “Terry, I’m going to give you an invention.” The voice explained that this invention would enable Terry to help those in need – providing food, school supplies, and clothes to those who couldn’t afford them.

The dream gave Terry the exact name for his invention: the Trapillankey, short for “the traveling pillow blankie.” As if that weren’t enough, the dream even gifted Terry with a catchy jingle for his product:

“On your travels, or wherever you go,

Don’t forget your Trapillankey.

You’ll be comfy, you’ll be cozy,

With the pillow, with the blankie.”

This divinely inspired jingle perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Trapillankey, a product designed to bring comfort to everyone, everywhere.

The Trapillankey is more than just a product—it’s a solution to a common traveler’s dilemma. “When travelers are on planes, trains, or any kind of mode of traveling, you often have a pillow but not a blanket, or a blanket but not a pillow,” Terry explains. “The Trapillankey solves this problem. With our product, you’ll always have your blanket and your pillow.”

What sets the Trapillankey apart is its innovative design. It’s a wearable, body-encircled blanket with a U-shaped pillow, featuring zippers for adjustability, arm ports for free range of motion, and arm slits for relaxed use. “It’s like your own personal cloud,” Terry beams. Terry, a veteran of the United States Army, has a diverse background that has prepared him for entrepreneurship. After leaving the army, he worked in his parents’ crab truck, picking up crabs, steaming them, and taking orders. This experience gave him valuable skills in dealing with crowds and customer service. Today, in addition to running Trapillankey, Terry operates a window-washing service, which he finds both meditative and rewarding.

Their journey has been challenging. Terry, who has stuttered all his life, sees the Trapillankey as more than just a business venture—it’s a personal triumph. “For him to step out and do this, even though sometimes it’s a struggle for him to get out what he’s trying to say, that’s a major accomplishment,” Jenise shares proudly.

The Wrights’ commitment extends beyond their product. Inspired by Jenise’s mother, a breast cancer survivor, they plan to support breast cancer awareness. Terry dreams of creating school scholarships for children in the name of his grandmother, Margie Sykes-Bynum, who significantly influenced his life. Jenise, a registered nurse with 28 years of experience, hopes to establish a scholarship in memory of her late father, Burwell Anderson.

As the Trapillankey gains momentum, the Wrights remain grounded in their faith and family values. Married for 27 years, they’re proud parents and grandparents, with another grandchild on the way. They balance their burgeoning business with their love for travel, swimming, and community involvement—Terry is a member of the Freemasons, a distinguished brotherhood organization.

The future looks bright for Trapillankey. With plans to expand their online presence and explore partnerships with sports teams like the Washington Commanders, Terry and Jenise Wright are on a journey to bring comfort to people everywhere, one Trapillankey at a time.
