April Pierce: Creating a Community Healing Haven in the Heart of Alabama

Exploring the realms of sound, light, and energy can be enhanced through various holistic practices

In the rolling countryside of northwest Alabama, just outside Florence, something remarkable is taking shape. On over 100 acres of land, April Pierce has built more than just a business. She has created a sanctuary where ancient healing wisdom meets cutting-edge technology, where stressed nervous systems find rest, and where the community discovers alternatives they never knew existed.

Shoals Healing Frequencies isn’t your typical wellness center tucked into a strip mall. It’s a labor of love, literally built by hand. April and her mother framed the building, laid the flooring, installed the wiring, and created every detail of this three-room treatment center themselves. The result is an intimate, welcoming space where clients come not just for treatment, but for transformation.

From Traditional Nursing to Holistic Healing

April Pierce brings 27 years of nursing experience to her holistic practice, giving her a unique perspective that bridges conventional and alternative medicine. Her journey into frequency healing and alternative therapies began during an unexpected pause in the world’s rhythm.

When COVID-19 changed everything, April found herself working from home doing chart reviews. For the first time in her busy career as a nurse and mother, she had time to explore. What she discovered changed the trajectory of her life. She learned about Reiki, energy healing, and Rife machines, technology invented in the 1920s that could support healing in ways she had never been taught in nursing school.

“When you work that nine to five job and you’re taking care of a family, I don’t think you have time to educate yourself and learn new things,” April reflects. “I was unaware of all the other alternatives that people have. And I just want that to be something that people can easily find out about.”

What started as personal exploration soon became a calling. April began offering frequency treatments to friends and family, then to clients in her home. The demand grew, and so did her vision. Two years ago, she officially opened Shoals Healing Frequencies, creating the kind of comprehensive healing center she wished had existed all along.

A One-Stop Healing Destination

Walk into Shoals Healing Frequencies, and you’ll find three distinct treatment rooms, each offering different modalities. One room is dedicated to frequency treatments and Rife therapy. Another houses a sound bed for crystal healing sessions. The third serves as a versatile treatment space. But what makes this center truly special is April’s commitment to being an all-inclusive resource for the community.

April doesn’t just offer her own services. She has created a hub where various holistic practitioners can see clients, including Reiki masters, quantum touch therapists, hypnotherapists, and mediums. She doesn’t charge these practitioners to use the space because, as she explains, “That’s helping me and it’s helping my community to be able to come to one place and get everything that they need.”

Whether someone wants to buy crystals, explore essential oils, experience past-life regression, or speak with a medium, they can find it all at Shoals Healing Frequencies. It’s the kind of comprehensive approach that reflects April’s philosophy: healing should be accessible, affordable, and available in one welcoming place.

Understanding Frequency Healing

At the heart of April’s practice is frequency healing, a concept that may sound futuristic but is rooted in fundamental physics. As April explains, everything in our universe has a frequency. Your voice, colors, even the Wi-Fi surrounding you right now operates on specific frequencies. Each organ in your body vibrates at its own frequency.

“When you’re born, everything’s pretty much perfect,” April says. “It’s kind of like buying a brand new car and then you drive it around for a few years and the tires get out of alignment.” Frequency therapy helps bring the body back into balance, like a tune-up for the human system.

April uses specialized equipment, including technology from Spooky 2, created by John White. What drew her to this particular equipment was White’s philosophy that healing technology should be affordable for everyone, not just those with significant financial resources. This aligns perfectly with April’s own values.

Her services are priced comparably to a massage, making alternative healing accessible to a broader community. She can even imprint frequencies into holographic stickers that clients can wear. One client who had suffered with severe knee pain for ten years, enduring multiple procedures, experienced dramatic relief within minutes of applying a frequency-imprinted sticker. The client stood up and, overcome with relief, began to dance.

“The smile on their face is all the payment that I really need for what I do,” April shares. Stories like these fuel her passion. While she still works as a nurse on weekends to pay the bills, she dedicates her weekdays to frequency healing because “it’s what pays my heart.”

Blending Old and New

What sets Shoals Healing Frequencies apart is April’s unique approach to combining what she calls “old-school healing” with “the technology of the future.” Old-school healing includes practices like Tai Chi, meditation, plant medicine, and herbal remedies passed down through generations. The modern side incorporates PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) energies, quantum energies, and scalar technology that creates an energy grid allowing the body to heal itself.

April also creates handcrafted teas, imprinting them with specific frequencies. An anti-inflammation tea, for example, might be imprinted with frequencies designed to address inflammation at a cellular level. It’s an innovation she believes is unique to her practice.

The results speak for themselves. One diabetic client struggling with high blood sugar levels saw his A1C drop from 10 to 8 in just three months using frequency therapy alone, a significant improvement that conventional medicine had struggled to achieve.

Deep Roots in the Shoals

The business name itself reflects April’s deep connection to her home. The Muscle Shoals area, made famous in the lyric “Muscle Shoals has the swamplands” from “Sweet Home Alabama,” is one of the top recording regions in the United States. Legends like Aretha Franklin recorded here. “Shoals” refers to a shallow place where healing occurs, where things become still. It was the perfect name for April’s vision.

April’s family has been in this area since the early settlers came from North Carolina. She has spent her entire life here, drawn by what she calls “some kind of magic” that keeps people rooted in this community. It’s a place where teachers at the local school were often students there themselves, where neighbors still help each other, where you can knock on someone’s door without fear.

“When you’ve got a nice place, you don’t leave it,” April says simply. This sense of community, safety, and connection is woven into everything she does at Shoals Healing Frequencies.

A Vision for the Future

April sees Shoals Healing Frequencies evolving into something even more expansive over the next four to five years. Her long-term vision includes transforming the property into a destination for spiritual retreats, with cabins where people can stay for a weekend or a week to heal and reconnect with themselves.

“That’s one thing that COVID did kind of give us is knowing that we need to take more time to learn who we are,” she observes. Her goal is to create a true community healing center where people can exhale, reset their nervous systems, and discover whether their physical pain is truly physical or a manifestation of carrying too much in their lives.

April wants to continue building this inclusive healing community, potentially transitioning part of it to nonprofit status in the future. She envisions a place where anyone interested in spiritual growth and holistic health can find what they need, regardless of their financial situation.

A Philosophy of Empowerment

Throughout the interview, one theme resonates: April’s commitment to education and empowerment. She’s not trying to convince anyone to abandon conventional medicine. As a nurse, she respects the value of traditional healthcare. But she wants people to know they have choices.

“If someone is diagnosed with cancer today, your doctor’s going to give you a plan, probably not even ask you what you want to do, just tell you this is what you need to do,” April explains. “It’s important for me to be able to offer not things to replace that but things that you can do along with that.”

Her own life experiences with pain, abandonment, and questions of self-worth have shaped her into a healer who can truly relate to her clients’ struggles. She views her personal challenges not as obstacles but as tools that help her connect with and understand the people she serves.

April describes herself as “a loner” who prefers to “establish myself by being the oddity.” In a world of business networking groups and conventional marketing, she has chosen to let her work and her community speak for itself. And in Florence, Alabama, word is spreading about the unusual healing center on 100 acres where ancient wisdom meets modern technology, and where your nervous system can finally rest.
