With an insane work schedule and a family to care for, keeping a home clean can be a nightmare. Well, maybe it’s time to call a professional health cleaning service.
Wash Masters, a premium cleaning business, led by Ashley Maharas and Mike, has been providing exterior cleaning services from Excelsior to Delano, and throughout the western suburbs of Minneapolis. After quitting their traditional jobs in 2016, the husband-wife duo, who strongly believe in creating healthier environments, embarked on their entrepreneur journey.
“What makes us different is the peace of mind and simplicity Wash Masters brings to the table,” said Mike, the company’s Vice President. “With us on the job, our clients feel taken care of – they know we’ll make their home or business look fantastic.”
“We jest that the more you clean, the more challenging it seems. Applying the right skillset to the situation at hand ensures the right result and zero damage to the home.” He added with a knowing grin, “You can’t throw high washing pressure at every problem and get the best results! We are trained across all applications. Hence, all problems solved.”
Ashley and Mike, who are natives of Minnesota, got married after college and settled in Excelsior over a decade ago. “We love Lake Minnetonka, it’s the crown jewel of recreation here, really beautiful!” said Mike, father of twins, 7 and 10 years old. “After having kids, we had an ‘awakening’ of a greater purpose beyond just ourselves. Now we have a great family lifestyle, and we can help other families too.”
Ashley and Mike are what we like to call Local Biz Heroes; self-made entrepreneurs who add true value to their community. High standards of professionalism and a strong work ethic of small business owners like Ashley and Mike are the strong pillars of the Minneapolis economy.
We sat down with this entrepreneurial couple for a quick interview:
Q: Why do you do what you do?
A: “We are homeowners too! When we started, we hadn’t even cleaned a window before, so we practiced on our own home until we were happy with the results. It can be challenging to clean properly while also preserving the building envelope. We wanted to pass that knowledge and results on to other homeowners and property managers.”
Q: How did you get into this profession?
A: “When we left our traditional jobs, we wanted to do something different that we could learn without a huge financial investment. We really dug in and learned how to care for all kinds of hardscapes, roofs, walkways – everything outside from top to bottom. The peace of mind and simplicity we offer earned us the ‘Best Cleaning Business Award’ from the Delano Chamber of Commerce in 2020.”
Q: Being a Restoration Contractor must present a variety of challenges. What’s the most difficult problem you have had to face?
A: “Our website features an ‘Instant Estimate’ request that relies on data input by the customer. One request we received was for 20 windows. So we scheduled the job accordingly. When we arrived, it turned out it was 200 windows! Our team got it done anyway, in time for our other scheduled jobs.”
Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a restoration contractor, what would it be?
A: “Don’t be afraid to ask your service provider to explain everything in detail! Anything they say they will do, ask How and Why. The more in-depth they are willing to explain, the more passionate and genuine they are.”
