Chris Weeks – Clarksville’s Special Events Planner!

By Del Cromartie on October 4, 2022

For the past two years, Chris Weeks and his team have been providing special event planning, entertainment and production services to his clients in the Clarksville, TN area. Chris, who has been DJ’ing for seventeen years, offers professional DJ services, photo booth rentals, video, music, light and sound production, custom graphic design, special effects, event planning, and consultation. I mean, the list goes on! In many cases, if the client can think of it, Chris goes above and beyond to deliver!

During our interview, I asked Chris, “what makes you different?”  He responded:

“I truly believe in communication and planning. Twenty-one years of active-duty service has allowed me to really dial in on customer service. I take pride in my work and being able to cater to my clients while delivering the best service possible. I provide solutions and alleviate the stress of planning special events. Clients can choose any DJ for their event, but when you are working with me, you can rest assured that you have the most dedicated, customer service-oriented event planner working to deliver the utmost satisfaction. Not only do I have the latest equipment and knowledge, but I have also nearly twenty years of experience in the entertainment industry.”

Chris WeeksOriginally from Las Vegas, Chris is the founder and owner of Remixed DJs. He has help from his daughter with running the business. He is a member of the Tennessee DJ Association (TNDJA) and the US DJ Association (USDJA). He has contributed to the community by volunteering his time and resources at local events like the Barks and Brews Annual Charity Event, which raised approximately $10,000 this year to donate towards animal-friendly charities such as the Caledonia Forest Conservation Program & The Montgomery County Angel Fund. He is also a Cub Assistant Den Leader with his local Boy Scout pack.

Chris has extended his help to others who have an interest in DJing by mentoring them in all aspects of the industry. In this process, Chris has been able to expand his business, Remixed DJs, to Houston where he has partnered with other aspiring DJs.

Chris is what we like to call a Local Biz Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to his community. High standards of professionalism and strong work ethics of small business owners like Chris are the infrastructure of our local economy.

Every dollar that Chris spends in the community, he makes sure it goes back to supporting the local business ecosystem. Remixed DJs supports a variety of philanthropic bodies, including but not limited to Chapter 38, a non-profit Veteran’s organization for current and retired Special Forces Soldiers. In addition, Chris volunteers his personal time with LifePoint Church when there are community service events.

We sat down for a quick interview

Q: How did you get into this profession?

A: “I discovered my passion for DJing at a party while I was a teenager. I was awe-struck by the DJ’s ability to captivate the audience. Being a DJ was the coolest thing ever to me. At that point, I was hooked. A decade later, I was given an opportunity to learn the craft and I pursued my passion as a DJ. I enjoyed music so much that I pursued my Bachelor of Science in Music Production from Full Sail University and took every opportunity to gain experience and perfect my craft as a professional DJ.”

Q: Being a special event planner, Chris works directly with many people. We asked him, “What’s the most unusual situation that ever happened to you on the job?”

A: “There’s a particular event I can recall now. If Murphy’s Law was a day, it was this day! About three months ago there was a couple that booked their wedding at a venue in Cedar Hill, TN. As the ceremony started, we began encountering one issue after the other. The bride had large four-foot letter lights spelling out their last name, as the sparklers began warming up, the breaker box would flip off. Along with all the DJ and light equipment, there was just too much power being drawn from the system to support all the equipment. We ended up having to shut off the buffet line to power the rest of the equipment. And it was just me running around setting everything up and solving one problem after the other. I’m relieved though because I was able to deliver while overcoming all those issues without the bride even noticing an issue. That was a huge learning experience that taught me to have a contingency plan when it comes to power.”

Q: Is there anyone you would like to mention or thank?

A: Mike Emrick from We Bring the Party Events. He taught me the business side of the wedding industry.  The following list have also played a huge role in my journey to becoming a professional DJ and successful business owner: DJ Alex Bigelow, Srdjan (DJ Serg) Zivkovic, Chris Crowder (DJ All American Chris), DJ Brandon Lee, Bryan Russell (DJ Bee), DJ Tony G, Jay Lewis (DJ SpydaTek), Karson with a “K” and Logan Yamagishi (DJ Casanova). I would like to extend my gratitude to all the venues that gave me the opportunity to play: Southside Johnny’s, SODOs, Blondies, On the Rox, Good Company, Rhino’s, Meadow Muffins, and Thirsty Parrot.

Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a special event planner or special event service provider, what would it be?

“Whomever you decide to choose, they must ensure that all stakeholders are in sync during the planning process and that there’s plenty of communication. This includes but is not limited to the event planner, the DJ, photographer, videographer and caterer. All moving parts need to be coordinated and any changes need to communicate immediately to ensure service providers can accommodate the request. “
