Lauderdale by the Sea, FL — In recent times, acts of kindness can seem few and far between, Garret Nathan, founder of The Better Days Foundation, is steering a course toward positive change with the innovative Wheels of Change Project. Through a blend of compassion, creativity and sheer determination, Garret and his team are not just changing lives — they’re redefining what it means to give back.

The Better Days Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, has become a beacon of hope in communities across Florida. Garret’s inspiration for founding the organization stems from a profound realization: the power of collective action. “People want to help, but they often don’t know where to start,” he explains. “We’re here to provide that starting point, that spark of inspiration.”
At the heart of the foundation’s efforts lies the Wheels of Change Project — a whirlwind journey of seven days, seven acts of kindness and seven cities. From hosting free holiday fun days to organizing toy drives and beach clean-ups, the project is a testament to the transformative power of community engagement.
The Better Days Foundation hosts several community beach clean-ups throughout the year with the public coming out to help remove trash and debris from the local beaches. Their motto, “Be The Spark,” encourages people to become involved with events such as their World Record Beach and Intracoastal Beach Clean-up days. You may have heard of groups adopting highways to help keep the town and community clean, but now imagine inspiring boating groups to take on the Intracoastal area for clean-up! That’s just what Garret’s foundation is accomplishing with his endeavor to lead the effort for positive environmental change.
But for Garret, it’s about more than just providing services — it’s about fostering connections and restoring hope. “We’re not just cleaning beaches or handing out toys,” he says. “We’re building bridges between people, showing them that they’re not alone in this world.”
Despite facing numerous challenges, from limited resources to bureaucratic red tape, Garret remains steadfast in his commitment to making a difference. “It’s easy to feel discouraged at times,” he admits. “But when you see the impact we’re having, it’s all worth it.”
The Better Days Foundation’s reach extends beyond Florida’s borders, with plans to expand the Wheels of Change Project southward, partnering with organizations like Reef Relief and United Way to address pressing environmental and community needs.
As Garret reflects on his journey, he attributes his resilience to his deep-rooted love for his community and his unwavering belief in the power of small acts of kindness to effect change. “Every toy donated, every beach cleaned — it all adds up,” he says. “And together, we’re creating a ripple effect of positivity that’s touching lives far beyond our own.”
For Garret, success isn’t measured in dollars or recognition but in the smiles of those he’s helped and the bonds he’s forged along the way. As he continues to chart a course toward a brighter future, his message rings loud and clear: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
