HydroClean Pro: A Veteran’s Mission to Keep Trucks Rolling

Newport News, VA – For the countless truck drivers and fleet managers navigating our nation’s highways, a stalled truck isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a direct hit to their livelihood. William McCoy, a retired Army veteran and truck owner-operator himself, understands this reality all too well. That’s why he founded HydroClean Pro, a revolutionary mobile engine cleaning service designed to save truckers time, money, and the stress of unexpected breakdowns.

Launched in June 2025, HydroClean Pro brings a cutting-edge technology by Carbon B Gone, long-established in Europe, to the Virginia area. The service directly tackles the costly and persistent problems associated with modern diesel particulate filters (DPFs).

The Problem on the Road

As McCoy explains, EPA mandates from over a decade ago require diesel engines to have after-treatment systems to reduce emissions. While beneficial for the environment, these systems, particularly the DPF, trap soot and ash. Over time, this buildup chokes the engine, leading to a state known as “derate,” where a semi-truck can be forced to a crawl of just five miles per hour.

The traditional fix is a costly and time-consuming process that involves removing the filter and baking it for nearly a day, often resulting in bills of three to four thousand dollars, significant downtime for the driver, and a lot of lost revenue. “You don’t make money if those wheels aren’t spinning,” McCoy notes.

An Innovative, Mobile Solution

HydroClean Pro flips the script on conventional DPF cleaning. “We don’t remove anything from the vehicle,” McCoy states. Instead, his service comes directly to the customer’s location. The process involves two steps: first, a hydrogen generator cleans out carbon from the top end of the engine. Then, two proprietary solutions are used to dissolve the soot and ash buildup in the DPF, which is then flushed out during a forced regeneration cycle.

The results are dramatic. McCoy recently serviced a truck with a DPF that was 161% clogged and brought it down to just 6%. This service not only saves money—costing significantly less than traditional methods—but it also boosts fuel mileage, improves performance, reduces pollution, and decreases risk of damaged components. The results speak for themselves, even winning over initial skeptics, as customer Jim Rowe shared in a 5-star review:

“I was intentionally skeptical… but the product worked better than I expected. After running it through my… Chevy Silverado, I saw about a 5MPG increase. Definitely worth doing.”

A Mission Born from Experience

McCoy’s path to creating HydroClean Pro was born from his own needs as a trucker. While on the road himself, he saw a post about this new technology and was immediately interested in a better way to maintain his own vehicle. At the time, the service wasn’t available anywhere on the East Coast. Recognizing a significant opportunity and a desire to be home more with his family, he made a bold move and launched his new business.

That commitment to service wasn’t born in the cabin of a semi-truck; it was forged through years of public service. As a former police officer in Honolulu, he recalls the profound impact of 9/11, an event that taught him to always “keep your head on a swivel.” He also worked as a State Department contractor in Afghanistan, mentoring local police and learning the importance of respecting different cultures to achieve a common goal. These experiences instilled a deep-seated value for taking care of people, a commitment that is now the foundation of his customer service philosophy. “I still believe in the handshake,” he says, emphasizing the high bar he sets for customer service.

At Your Service

Based in Newport News, McCoy serves the entire state of Virginia and even parts of North Carolina. His ideal customers are the owner-operators and fleet managers responsible for truck maintenance. He understands their demanding schedules and offers his mobile service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and beyond, to accommodate their needs—even completing a cleaning while the driver sleeps so they don’t lose a day of work.

Living in the Hampton area, McCoy, a self-described “water freak,” enjoys fishing and riding his Harley. He is also deeply proud of the region’s strong military presence. “Just seeing it on a day-to-day basis just makes me really, really proud to be an American,” he shares.

As his business grows, he plans to give back by supporting charities like Operation Blessing, an organization he witnessed doing impactful disaster relief work in Afghanistan. For William McCoy, HydroClean Pro is more than just a business; it’s the next evolution in vehicle technology and a way to provide a crucial, honest service to the hard-working individuals who keep the country moving.
