How one Pompano Beach gun range is helping people replace uncertainty with knowledge and confidence.
For someone who has never handled a firearm before, walking into a gun range can feel intimidating. Uncertainty about what to expect, questions they may hesitate to ask, and the presence of more experienced shooters can make that first step even more daunting.
At Revere Gun Range in Pompano Beach, Florida, manager Nefer Angulo is working to make that experience more approachable.

Together with her team, she has created an environment where questions are encouraged, beginners are welcomed, and responsible firearm handling begins with knowledge, discipline, and proper training.
At the heart of that approach is a principle Nefer believes strongly in. Education is safety.
Nefer’s introduction to firearms came from an unlikely starting point. Having grown up in a country where firearms were not part of everyday life, her curiosity was sparked while working across the street from a gun store.
As she learned more, she discovered a culture quite different from the one often portrayed in movies. What impressed her most was the discipline and self-control involved, along with the responsibility that comes with learning to handle a firearm safely.
That curiosity gradually developed into a deeper appreciation for responsible firearm ownership and eventually led her into the industry herself. Today, as manager of Revere Gun Range, Nefer brings that perspective to her work, helping others gain the knowledge and confidence that first drew her to the field.
As one of the longer-established gun ranges in the Pompano Beach area, Revere Gun Range carries a history its current owners were determined to preserve when they took over four years ago, retaining the Revere name while gradually shaping the business around their own vision.
Serving Pompano Beach and surrounding communities across Broward County, the indoor range welcomes people with widely different levels of experience. Some arrive having never handled a firearm before, while others are returning after years away, preparing for a permit, or looking to refine and advance their existing skills.
Whatever their starting point, the emphasis remains on providing a safe, approachable setting where proper training and continued learning support responsible firearm ownership.

One of the misconceptions Revere Gun Range seeks to address is that firearm ownership begins and ends with possessing a firearm. Learning to handle a firearm responsibly involves considerably more, from understanding proper safety procedures and developing sound habits to building the discipline that comes through continued training and practice.
Education therefore sits at the center of the experience. The range offers training for complete beginners as well as more experienced shooters, including classes connected with concealed-carry permitting and instruction for those looking to refresh or further develop their skills.
Several team members are NRA certified, while the range also trains individuals to become Range Safety Officers. Yet the value of that expertise lies not only in professional qualifications, but in making knowledge accessible regardless of a person’s level of experience.
Much of what distinguishes Revere Gun Range comes down to its eight-person team, whose technical knowledge is matched by an approachable style of instruction that encourages newcomers to ask questions and learn without feeling intimidated.
Among them is Micah, one of the range’s younger team members, who runs shooting competitions and shares practical drills to help people develop their skills. Mateus, meanwhile, brings a particularly disciplined approach to firearm safety and instruction, helping even inexperienced shooters build a solid foundation.
Together, they reflect the culture Revere has worked to create, where professional knowledge, patience, and accessibility make learning an integral part of the customer experience.
Over time, familiar faces can become people whose presence genuinely matters. For Nefer, one of them was a regular customer who visited Revere Gun Range every Tuesday for senior day. After his shooting sessions, the two would often stay and talk, with conversations moving naturally from everyday life to the things that mattered to them beyond the range.
While Nefer was away on maternity leave, he passed away. She only learned the news when she returned, making the realization that their conversations had ended all the more difficult. His absence stayed with her and changed the way she thought about the relationships formed through her work.
Since then, she has made a more conscious effort to stay connected with the people she sees regularly, recognizing that somewhere between the visits, conversations, and shared routines, customers can quietly become part of the community that gives a local business its meaning.
Some of the most memorable visitors to Revere Gun Range arrive from countries where access to firearms is far more limited. For many, stepping onto an American shooting range and handling a firearm for the first time is an experience they have only ever imagined, bringing a mixture of curiosity, anticipation, and uncertainty.
Seeing that hesitation give way to genuine excitement has made these encounters particularly rewarding for the Revere team. Those moments also capture something central to the range itself, where unfamiliarity is never treated as a disadvantage, but as the starting point for learning.
Making firearm training accessible at Revere Gun Range extends beyond welcoming beginners. Weekday specials, including discounted range time on Mondays and two-for-one entry on Fridays, make regular practice easier to maintain, while active and retired military and law enforcement personnel receive additional special pricing.
Accessibility, however, also means reducing the hesitation that can keep inexperienced customers from walking through the door. For those considering a firearm for self-defense, that hesitation often comes from limited exposure or understanding of how to handle one safely.
Revere’s approach is to replace that uncertainty with knowledge. A firearm may be a tool, but using it responsibly requires an understanding of safety, proper handling, and the discipline developed through training. With education and experience, something once intimidating can become familiar and understood.
As Revere Gun Range continues to grow, its focus is expanding toward new training opportunities and ways for customers to develop their skills beyond regular range practice.
Competition shooting is one area receiving particular attention. Revere is planning internal competitions that will give customers interested in the competitive side of shooting an opportunity to take their first steps in a familiar environment, rather than navigating that world on their own.
By introducing them to competition gradually, the range can help participants develop their skills, gain practical experience, and build the confidence to progress further.
Looking ahead, Nefer hopes Revere Gun Range will become a name the community readily recognizes and associates with trust, professionalism, and an approachable experience.
As the range expands its training and creates new opportunities for customers to develop their abilities, the focus remains on strengthening that reputation while staying true to Revere’s identity.
At the heart of it all is the principle that continues to guide its direction. Education is safety.
