Roseville, CA – For the past 10 years Robert Burdekin, the wonder of Travel Fitness Wellness, has been educating everyone in Northern California on how to eat, exercise, and live a healthy lifestyle while living a busy life.
Robert says, “What makes me different is that I was an athlete throughout junior high and high school. My plan was to go to college and continue my journey in track and field. Life happened, and things changed. I left college and jumped right into the corporate world and realized that my busy lifestyle was preventing me from being healthy.”
Robert is a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to his community. High standards of professionalism and strong work ethics of small business owners like Robert are the infrastructure of the Sacramento area economy.
Every dollar that Robert makes goes back to supporting the local business ecosystem and the community as Travel Fitness Wellness supports the several different local charities. Robert has run a 50K marathon where 98 cents out of every dollar went to helping juvenile diabetes.
We sat down with Robert for a quick interview.
Why do you do what you do?
“Through my experience in the corporate world, I realized that it was increasingly difficult for professionals to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I had personally gotten out of shape and developed pre-diabetes and thought that something needed to change.”
How did you get into this profession?
“I seemed to live at the doctor, and I was sick and tired of not feeling my best. So, 12 years ago, the doctor said that I needed to do something about my health. The levels of my cholesterol and triglycerides were out of control. He told me to take fiber and the pills that he was prescribing me. I did my research. I started running and exercising. I had issues with my knees and my sciatica. When I started running and exercising, I noticed that I was no longer experiencing pain in my knees and my sciatic. I, then, decided it was time to help others with the things that I had learned.”
What’s the most significant event that has ever happened to you?
“I was a junior in high school, and I was competing at the world level in track and field. I was competing to go to the Olympics. I didn’t make it, but it gave me the opportunity to compete at that level. When I watched the Olympics the following summer, I watched someone that I had competed against competing in the Olympics. It was inspiring. It was at that moment that I realized that anything was possible. “
If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a wellness program, what would it be?
“I would say that everyone needs to realize that there isn’t one set program for everyone. Everybody is different. What works for one individual may not necessarily work for the next. What worked for your friend at work may not be the right program for you. “
