We sat down with Sam for a quick interview.
Why do you do what you do?
“I began pondering which career path would allow me to assist others and fulfill my needs. What I do has a therapeutic effect on me as well. Picture this: I get to immerse myself in soothing melodies, I slow down my day, I take deep breaths, and
I ground myself and relax. And guess what? This energy transfer extends to my clients too, benefiting both of us tremendously.”
What is the driving force of your business?
“”I lost my precious child in 2017. He was the driving force behind my decision to venture into entrepreneurship, seeking flexibility and the ability to prioritize school activities and more. Sadly, he was unexpectedly taken from me in a tragic car accident at the tender age of 11.
“This profound loss has forever altered the course of my life, fueling my passion for providing grief and trauma massage. It’s an incredible approach that combines breathwork and a nurturing touch, offering unwavering support and solace. Many clients have tearfully confided in me during sessions, expressing their struggle with loss. In those moments, we seamlessly continue the session, and I gently check in with them to ensure they feel comfortable moving forward.
“While I used to offer regular massage, I recognized the need for a more delicate and empathetic approach — one tailored specifically to those who are mourning or experiencing trauma.”
Do you have any special awards/certifications?
“As a licensed massage therapist, I go beyond the basics. I am certified in manual lymphatic drainage therapy, which is crucial because the post-op lymphatic massage trend has led to many unqualified providers. I’m passionate about having the proper education to deliver this service safely. I’ve witnessed risky practices offered in the post-op area, where fluids are extracted from wounds. But when you come to us, the focus should be on healing, not reopening or keeping wounds open. Let us guide you towards a proper recovery.”
What is the most unusual client experience you have encountered?
“I have to share an incredible story. Once, a client came in for a facial, and let me tell you, she experienced the deepest level of relaxation. Now, I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing this, but she actually fell asleep during the treatment and completely forgot where she was. As she began to wake up, she started swatting at me, as I was still working on her face. Can you believe it?
“It was a pretty funny moment, and she was so embarrassed when she fully woke up and realized what had happened. But you know what? It was a fantastic testament to how deeply she could unwind and let go. I was genuinely touched by her ability to reach such a state of pure relaxation.”
