Presence Jewelry Designs is located in Wilmington, North Carolina, but will ship to anywhere in the United States and just recently added, Europe. Lisa has been in business for 25 years. Her jewelry designs are hand forged with silver, gold or aluminum. Many are hand hammered, some with gemstones wrapped in her signature style.

Her designs include earrings, bracelets, watches and necklaces. Two of her best selling designs – the “Presence Cross” and “Swirly Scarf Slide” have a copyright.

Lisa creates many of her designs using repurposed aluminum wire, which is lightweight, hypoallergenic and looks just like silver after she hammers it (but won’t tarnish!)

Lisa says that she began her business as a single mom. “I was taking care of my children and had this artistic side that needed an outlet, and I needed to supplement my income. I found my artistic direction, and from there I started to build my business”.

I asked her what she thinks sets her apart from the competition. She replied, “I tend to not follow trends and create with my own signature style that includes a swirl or spiral in each design”.

Lisa lives In Wilmington, NC. The things she likes most about the Wilmington area are “the beach, the ocean and the friendly people” She is single, has five children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys writing, walking/hiking and painting.

I asked Lisa what was the most significant event that had happened to her in her business and what she learned from it. She answered, “When I realized that I could teach women to hammer my designs and in turn supplement their income. I learned that the sharing of the art is truly rewarding.”

Lisa sometimes offers special discounts to her customers during the year. She also donates 10% of all February’s sales to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI). I asked Lisa just a couple of more questions. The first being what one tip she would give readers for choosing a jewelry designer.

She replied, “Choose someone who has original artisan designs created from high quality materials.”

The second thing I asked was about her most memorable client interaction. This is what she said, “I recently met a customer who found my shop inside Blue Moon Gift Shops in Wilmington and requested a custom order Presence Cross necklace. I learned that she had been trying to find my business for a couple of years (looking in the area where I used to live), wanting to purchase a Presence Cross, when she surprisingly came across one of the necklaces in my Blue Moon shop!”
