Toledo, OH – For the past two and a half years, Mitchell Antesky and his husband Scott have been recycling everything in Toledo into lamps through their company, Toledo Lamp Company. They can do a range of projects from transforming a blender into a lamp to transforming a treasured family heirloom such as a rifle.

Mitchell says, “What makes us different is that we’re keeping things out of the landfill because we mostly use recycled parts. On top of that, we strive to be affordable while still creating original artwork that will start conversations. Aside from the recycled pieces, about half of our business are these cool looking industrial-style pipe lamps with a steampunk inspiration – they’re really cool to see!”

Mitchell and Scott are self-made entrepreneurs who bring true value to their community. High standards of professionalism and strong work ethics of small business owners like Mitchell and Scott are the infrastructure of Toledo’s economy.

Mitchell Antesky

Mitchell has lived in Toledo for the last eight years and absolutely loves the city. “What I love about Toledo is it’s right between being a big metropolitan city but small enough to be very homey and neighborhood-centric. A lot of the neighborhoods have their own organizations, and they all have their own personality. Toledo is known for its rust and glass industry, so I like to say it can be a little rusty, but can also shine through.”

Mitchell and Scott support the local business ecosystem and the community. as Toledo Lamp Company often donates their lamps to nonprofit organizations for their silent auctions. They are also active in the Toledo Warehouse District Association.

We sat down with Mitchell for a quick interview –

Why do you do what you do?

“Scott and I have always wanted to start our own business. We were customers of Toledo Lamp Company, and I had bought a lamp when they offered to sell it to us. I came home to Scott and said, ‘Here’s your lamp, do you want to buy a lamp company?’ A couple months after our offer, it was our business!”

How do you both work together as co-owners of Toledo Lamp Company?

“I’ve been an artist all my life and Scott is the master tinkerer. I design them and he gets them to light up.”

If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a lamp company, what would it be?

“You want to make sure you’re working with someone you can have a friendly relationship with. They should provide good customer service and listen to you – especially as some of these pieces could be very special to you. “

For those of you who are looking for a unique lamp that’s sure to be a conversation piece, Mitchell and Scott with Toledo Lamp Company should be your first choice.
