Carol City, FL – It would be difficult for Laura Moore to pinpoint when she started loving art and making people laugh. But it just feels like it’s been all her life. Her company, CREATIONS BY LAURA, showcases a unique mixture of art and humor and inspiration. She creates personalized gifts such as coffee mugs, pins, bags, t-shirts, mouse pads and more. Her main goal is to find things that may not have been funny before but are funny now or in certain circumstances.
CREATIONS BY LAURA has served South Florida during the past two years, and has been gaining momentum one smile at a time.
Laura said, “My background and experiences make me uniquely able to understand and see humor where others might not easily see it. I think it’s because I leaned on humor in hard times. Now I want to give that gift to others.”
We sat down with Laura for a quick interview:
Why do you do what you do?
“I have been through some tough times where I really needed to find happiness and humor in some way. I had to stretch my imagination, so that makes me want to help others. I want to turn my experiences into gifts to other people by finding humor where they would never look.”
How did you get into this profession?
“I have always loved art. In low times, I had to focus on beautiful things and things that made me smile. ”
Being in South Florida must be a nice lifestyle. What do you like most about it?
“I really love the weather, and being near the water. Plus the community is very friendly.
If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a humorous or clever gift, what would it be?
“The most important thing is putting yourself in the recipient’s place, to understand how they will receive it. If it is something only they and few others can understand, it will feel very special.
In that state of mind, choose something that speaks to you, and just fits the person.“
