We sat down with Joshua for a quick interview.

Q: What is the most important life lesson you’ve learned so far?

A: “It’s kind of funny actually. Before I got into law, I worked as a club promoter in Las Vegas. So, I learned how to hustle and apply myself toward my nightly goal. That experience has stood me in good stead in my law practice because I focus on the needs of each client and press ahead to get the best outcome that circumstances allow for them.”

Q: Why did you choose the law profession?

A: “My dad is an attorney, so I had a pretty good idea of what was involved to be an attorney. I liked what I saw, so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I made a choice. It’s very rewarding to help folks in that are in a legal jam and get a favorable outcome for them.”

Q: What are the most common mistakes or misconceptions people have about dealing with the law?

A: “Well, probably it would be that the process can be much slower than most people think. It’s not like on TV, where the case is wrapped up in an hour. In the types of cases that I deal with there are police reports, maybe dashcam videos, 911 calls that need to be investigated to name a few. In other words, there’s usually lots of discovery. This can often take anywhere from 3 to 6 months before a case is even heard. Most people think that it can be done more quickly, so it’s part of my job to inform them ahead of time what is involved.“

Q: So, what is it you like best about your job?

A: “For one thing, I like being my own boss. I also enjoy reading case law and its application and the challenges of the courtroom. The mix of activities is good, and of course, the satisfaction of helping people.”
