Katrina Ray, founder of Paralegals Plus Lounge, is transforming decades of experience into a business that offers more than traditional legal services. Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Katrina’s vision is to provide her clients with comprehensive, personalized support. Since opening in 2024, Paralegals Plus Lounge has offered paralegal services, tax preparation, and will soon expand to include credit repair services.
From Legal Beginnings to Entrepreneurship
Katrina’s journey into law began unexpectedly. After needing legal assistance herself, she was offered a job at the same law office only three weeks later. Despite her lack of experience in personal injury cases, she quickly learned the ropes and went on to earn an associate degree in legal studies. With her degree in hand, she sought work but faced challenges finding opportunities. Rather than give up, Katrina took a bold step and became a freelance paralegal, ultimately founding Paralegals Plus Lounge.
Her business fills a unique niche, providing attorneys with temporary and flexible legal support without the long-term commitment of a full-time hire. “We bridge the gap,” Katrina says. “Attorneys can hire us at an hourly rate to fill in as needed, without the traditional hiring process.” Her goal is to serve not only legal professionals but also community members who need affordable assistance with legal documents and case research.
A Community-Centered Approach
While many businesses focus solely on growth, Katrina is deeply committed to serving her community. Born and raised in Greenville, she’s passionate about making legal services accessible to everyone. “I want to be the go-to person for my community,” she says. Her commitment to helping others extends beyond work—she volunteers with the National Technical Honor Society, an organization she credits with inspiring her educational journey.
Katrina’s personal story is one of perseverance. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while pursuing her degree, she balanced full-time work, pregnancy, and studies. Despite these challenges, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.8 GPA and became a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Supported by mentors like Donna Swinger, Katrina gained the confidence to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams. “If I can do it, anyone can,” she says, hoping to inspire others to pursue their own paths.
Tailored Legal Services with a Personal Touch
At Paralegals Plus Lounge, Katrina’s hands-on approach sets her apart. “We provide one-on-one interactions,” she explains. From the first call to the final step of each legal process, clients receive personalized attention and care. “You speak to one person throughout,” she emphasizes, ensuring clients experience efficiency, professionalism, and exceptional service.
Katrina has plans to expand Paralegals Plus Lounge nationwide. Currently, she serves clients in South Carolina and North Carolina, but her sights are set on reaching more people across the country. In addition to paralegal services and tax preparation, she will soon offer credit repair services, broadening her suite of client-focused offerings.
Balancing Family and Business
Katrina’s dedication to her business is matched by her commitment to family. A single mother of four and grandmother of two, she understands the importance of balancing work with family life. Her children are a significant part of her journey, motivating her to keep pushing forward. She also credits W. Benjamin Mclain Jr., who took a chance on her early in her career. “He hired me with no experience and taught me everything I know,” she says.
Greenville’s Growth and Future
Katrina is optimistic about the future of Greenville, her home for 47 years. “Greenville is expanding,” she says, thrilled by the opportunities that come with its growth. Named one of the best cities for retirement, Greenville is developing rapidly, and Katrina sees her business growing alongside it. “There is so much potential here,” she adds.
Experience Excellence with Paralegals Plus Lounge
With Paralegals Plus Lounge, Katrina Ray brings together personal experience, legal expertise, and a profound commitment to her community. Her passion for helping others and educating people about the law is the foundation of her business. As she continues to grow her services, her goal remains clear: to provide personalized legal support with a personal touch.
For those in need of temporary paralegal services, tax preparation, or soon-to-come credit repair, Katrina’s message is simple: “If you need someone to explain the law, use someone educated in it. I want to be the person who helps you understand and navigate legal challenges.” With Paralegals Plus Lounge, Katrina is becoming a trusted resource for the people of Greenville and beyond.
