Reciting a story about Chargers Community, Erick mentioned that his father was a ball boy and strength and conditioning coach for the Chargers when he was young, but that became his archnemesis.

Referring to the inspiration behind his business name, Erick mentioned that he went on the contractors state Licensing Board, and ‘Specialist’ was the number one repeated keyword. So he picked that and added ‘Roofing’ and ‘San Diego’ together for search strength.

We sat down with Erick for a quick interview –

Q: What’s the main problem you solve for your customers?

A: We offer professional and reliable Roofing Services in San Diego. We also offer combo services of Roofing and Solar Installation. Customers can always count on us as we help them maximize the rebate by putting the roof and solar in the same installation.

Q: Why do you do what you do?

A: We understand the issues that keep surfacing because of poor materials or craftsmanship, and customers keep paying additional roof repair costs. We want to save customers from jumping on their roofs every once in a while for a quick roof inspection. We are dedicated to creating highly durable roofs for our customers that last for decades.

Q: Why did you go into this business? Is there a special story behind it?

A: We work for the customers, that’s our business motto. We treat every roof just like it was my mother’s house or my grandmother’s house.  But before getting into this business, we had witnessed far too many customers falling prey to people running roofing businesses, who would build in a large commission for themselves and handle it to a subcontractor.  We wanted to save customers who require roofing installation or repair services from that kind of experience and offer them a prompt and transparent service from sales to installation and warranty.

Erick had been a member of many business and mastermind groups. He had been a board member of the RCAC Roofing Contractors Association of California. They meet 4 times a year in Sacramento. He is currently a board member of the Roofing Association of San Diego and serving his last previous term as President this year.

Q: What is the most significant event that ever happened to you, and what did you learn from it?

A: A few years ago, I came across a guy named Michael Perco who ran a program on the news called, ‘It ain’t right.’ My wife and I were watching the news which was about an old lady who was exploited by an unlicensed contractor.

So I quickly spearheaded a project through the San Diego Roofers Association, which I’m a board member of, and we donated her a roof.  We got the donation for materials & labor, so we were able to get this lady a new roof and a more aesthetically pleasing environment.

Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a qualified roofer, what would it be?

When it comes to getting a new roof done or any major project, take your time. Become proactive and do a lot of research. Don’t go to just one website or landing page that has just one number and trust it all through the process, verify their claims instead.

Customers can go to the Better Business Bureau for verification. Check them out at the licensing board to see if there are multiple complaints or if their license is revoked. Also, verify if their license is valid for their job. Few people in this business don’t have the necessary skill set and are not qualified to do roofing installation or repair, and they do not deliver lasting results. Customers need to do their due diligence, and it’s up to us to educate them. I would say that 10% of them are good and 1% would be considered to be the greatest of this bunch. As licensed and qualified roofers, it’s our job to save our clients from being exploited.
