Long Beach native Lizbeth Barajas has built a business rooted in service, clarity, and compassion. As the founder of Alumni Advocate Assistance, she helps student loan borrowers navigate one of the most confusing financial systems in the country. Her mission is simple: make sure people feel supported, understood, and equipped to regain control of their student loan journey.

After nearly a decade helping borrowers through other companies, Lizbeth noticed something missing: long-term support. Student loans aren’t a “one-and-done” process—they evolve, policies shift, and repayment plans change. Many borrowers were completing their one-year agreements elsewhere only to end up lost again.
Lizbeth wanted to create something different. With Alumni Advocate Assistance, she set out to ensure clients not only received help with paperwork and communication but also understood their options and stayed informed as rules changed. For her, education is just as important as execution.
The organization specializes in helping borrowers find the best path forward with their student loan debt. This includes:
Student loan policies update often, and Lizbeth’s team monitors those changes closely. Their subscription-based model ensures clients always have ongoing support—not just a quick fix.
Although Alumni Advocate Assistance is based in Long Beach, California, their clients span the country—with many located on the East Coast. Lizbeth’s work is remote-friendly, making her support accessible to borrowers no matter where they live.
She also understands how intimidating student loan platforms can be. While anyone can log in to studentaid.gov and attempt to manage their own paperwork, the process is complex and the messaging can feel overwhelming. Her service is designed to bring clarity and confidence to borrowers who may not know where to start.
Lizbeth’s love for Long Beach runs deep. Born and raised there, she describes the city as both big and small—large enough to offer diversity and opportunity, yet close-knit enough to feel like family.
The community is one of her favorite things about living there. Long Beach pride is real, and for Lizbeth, leaving someday would mean leaving the sense of belonging she treasures.
Like many business owners, Lizbeth’s path wasn’t planned—it was inspired. After witnessing the gaps in borrower support at other companies, she felt compelled to create something better.
Launching a business came with its challenges, especially beginning right before the pandemic, but Lizbeth’s commitment to serving borrowers kept her moving forward. Her experience has taught her resilience, adaptability, and the power of serving people with honesty and care.
Outside of work, Lizbeth’s world revolves around family. She values spending time with the people she loves and creating a stable, supportive environment for her children. Motherhood, she says, changed her perspective—helping her see the world with more compassion and understanding.
With five years in business, Lizbeth is focused on expanding her reach and helping more borrowers understand their options. She remains passionate about guiding people through one of the most overwhelming aspects of personal finance.
Her ideal clients are those who need support getting back on track—especially borrowers in default or at risk of tax offsets. She wants them to know help is available and that they’re not alone.
Student loans impact millions of people across the U.S. Many borrowers feel anxious or uncertain about what to do next. Lizbeth’s approach reminds them that the system doesn’t have to feel impossible. With clear guidance, consistent support, and someone in their corner, the process becomes manageable.
Alumni Advocate Assistance is built on that belief—that every borrower deserves clarity and someone who advocates for their best interests.
