For the past fifteen months, Chris Doran and his Doran Justice (“Doing Justice”) team of “Seriously great attorneys” have been representing clients in Phoenix, Arizona.
“What makes us different is that we treat everyone like family and passionately care about our clients.” We live and breathe by our core values “Honesty, Equality, Advocacy, Respect, Teamwork (HEART).”
Chris Doran is the Lead Attorney and Owner of Doran Justice, PLLC, Criminal Defense, and Family Law, a Mesa native, born and raised, and a raving Atlanta Hawks fan.
Chris is what we like to call a Local Biz Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to his community. High standards of professionalism and the strong work ethics of small business owners like Chris are the foundation of the Phoenix economy.
Every dollar that Chris makes goes back to supporting the local business ecosystem and the local community, as Doran Justice supports ASU’s Homeless Legal Assistance Project (HLAP) as well as doing long term volunteer work with the Modest Means Program Arizona and pro bono advice for veterans and the wider community.
We sat down with Chris for a quick interview –
Q: Why do you do what you do?
A: “I have always been a people pleaser and passionate about helping others and making a difference in their lives. I knew from 8th Grade that being able to make an impact on the community I grew up in was really important to me, so becoming a lawyer was a natural choice.”
Q: How did you get into this profession?
A: “I was previously a partner at another practice for two years before taking the leap and starting out by myself. I also coach college students on how to be great lawyers through Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Mock Trial Program.”
“I’m really proud of everything we have achieved in the last fifteen months and am grateful to everyone on the team for their commitment and work ethic and particularly my wife Ali. My associate attorneys, Tyler Schwenke and Shelby Anderson, and the entire support staff have been instrumental to the success of our practice.”
Chris is a talented lawyer and has participated in numerous competitions with considerable success, including First Place ASU (2013, 2014), Jenckes Closing Argument Competition; 2nd Place (2015), Oplinger Closing Argument Competition; 3rd Place (2015), ABA Representation in Mediation Competition. Chris has also achieved a Juris Doctorate Degree, Bachelor’s Degrees in Philosophy and Justice Studies, Order Of The Barristers induction, and received awards such as Janet S. Mueller Oral Advocacy Award, an award given to the top oral advocate in law school.
Q: Being an attorney that works directly with many people, we asked Chris what’s his most satisfying accomplishment so far?
A: “Last year, it was my privilege to offer free services assisting people in minority communities, setting aside convictions, and helping them get lives back on track. One client is particularly memorable to me as I knew that this would make a huge difference to her life in the future and allow for many opportunities, which would not have been available to her.“
During his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Ali and recently born son, Brayden, coaching undergraduate students, traveling, and game nights with friends.
Q: “If you could share one tip with the readers, what would it be?
A: “Know your rights and apply your rights, that’s when the system works the best, no one should be offended by you invoking your constitutional rights.”
This is what some of Doran Justice’s clients say about them.
“Look no further for your representation, this is your guy. I cannot say enough good things about Chris Doran and his team. He is quite literally the best at what he does. His team is highly capable as well. I’ve used them on multiple occasions, and he has even assisted me on legal matters outside of his legal expertise(s). He is knowledgeable, professional, and his email correspondence to opposing parties is practically a gift from God. I refer anyone and everyone I know to this firm and they will be my go-to for life!”
“I had such a great experience working with Shelby. She was an amazing lawyer who listened to me and gave trustworthy advice and worked hard to get me what I wanted. I found Shelby through the modest means project, which was a godsend. I’m so grateful that such experienced, talented, professional lawyers participate in that program and help people when they need them the most. Shelby was very responsive whenever I had a question or needed to talk. They worked with me every step of the way, and I’m forever grateful for the outcome in my case.”
“Thank God for this firm! Super reliable, there when I need them the most, with positive attitudes and quality responses. Case closed and no court dates within nearly 5 months. The greatest comfort of having this responsible team on my side allowed me to do my part while they put a good word out for me. Biggest relief of the year! Clean slate right on time for the new resolutions I have for 2021. Thank You, Chris and Jessica, and all the others that helped me get my second chance at life! I can say I feel the love as professionally as possible. Best to this 5-star firm”!
