Roger “Duke” Farrell Jr. is the owner of 2nd Chance Credit 700 which he started over 20 years ago and took the company mainstream 2 years ago. This family-owned business has and continues to provide the Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach county areas with quality and caring credit repair and financial counseling services.
Duke, who was born in Miami, loves the people of his community and the liveliness of South Florida in general. He is actively involved in helping empower and better the lives of its citizens. He has 4 children ages 16, 21, 27, and 28.
He is an Alumni of Bethune-Cookman University (BCU) and a recent graduate of St. Thomas University, obtaining a Bachelors’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Duke highlighted that he was motivated by his father and grandmother to finish his schooling.
Because of his and his teams’ dedication and care in helping their clients clean up their credit, 2nd Chance Credit 700 maintains a steady flow of new clients, mostly through referrals from prior elated clients.
I sat down with Duke for a quick interview –
Q: What made you come up with this name?
A: “I started providing credit repair services to family and friends over 20 years ago. As I helped more and more people straighten out their credit problems, word got out, and my clientele grew. I decided to officially start the business because I feel everyone deserves a second chance with their credit.”
Q: Overall, what are the services that you provide?
A: “We provide credit repair, financial consultation, budget training, and 24-hour credit monitoring services.
Q: What’s the main problem you solve for your customers?
A: “Deleting negative items and providing consultation for their credit-related issues with utmost efficiency and care.
Q: What are the areas you cover?
A: “Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties are our target areas, but we provide our services nationwide.”
Q: Who is your ideal customer and why would people reading this be inclined to choose you over a competitor?
A: “Our ideal customer can be in their 20’s or older, who have developed credit problems, based on their life situation. Basically, anyone who has issues in maintaining their credit profile.
Q: What sets you apart from the competition?
A: “ In general what I think separates us from others is that we’re a family-owned business that has been serving our community for over 20 years, helping individuals and families put their financial house in order and keeping it that way.
Q: Why did you go into this business? Is there a special story behind it?
A: I’ve been providing financial counseling services for over 20 years. I quickly realized that I could not only help my friends and family members improve their financial situation but that I could also support my own family in so doing. So, I officially started the business. Over the years I’ve kept in tune with the laws as they’ve changed, in order to provide my clients the best care possible in solving their problem(s).
Q: How many people work for you? Is there anyone, in particular, you would like to mention in the article? And why?
A: “I employ 3 family members and friends. I also have over 20 affiliates who help me in acquiring clients.”
Q: Your business mostly operates in South Florida. What do you like most about living here?
A: “Without a doubt, I enjoy and appreciate the liveliness of the city. I’m also fascinated by the rich history of the area. And no doubt, I love the people and the growing cultural diversity of the people of our community”. Of course, I’m also passionate about my Dolphins as I am with BCU football”.
Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a credit repair company and financial consulting company, what would it be?
A: “You want to find an honest and credible agency that will be open in telling you what they can and can’t do. Remember, no one can repair your credit in 24 hrs. And stay clear of those who charge you monthly for credit repair services.
Q: Any other special life events you would like to share?
A: “I tapped into the passion for life that my parents showed, to never give up on my dreams and that’s how I’ve lived my life.”
Q: Any special discounts or deals offered to your customers?
A: “Yes, we provide on-spot discounts for military, educators, veterans, and struggling parents.”
Q: What is the most significant event that ever happened to you?
A: “I had a client reach out to me 30 days after providing him our credit repair services. He stated he hadn’t seen any changes in his credit nor had he received any correspondence from the credit agencies. I told him he should have received some form of notification by now and asked that he check his mail closely. Come to find out he hadn’t opened letters from the credit agencies….once he did he found out that 8 negative items had been removed from his report and his credit had gone up from 590 to 680. I immediately got 5 referrals from that individual.”
Q: What did you learn from that experience?
A: “I learned that you have to have patience in working with your clients and both parties must communicate clearly to one another for a successful outcome.”
Q: Do you personally or via the business support a charity?
A: “We support scholarship funding to Bethune-Cookman University.
