Andy Maffey is proud to work along with a close-knit group of 20 leading security professionals from several years. He is an Elizabeth, New Jersey native, born and raised, and, of course, a raving Roselle Catholic High School Basketball fan, that is, 12th in the country.

Andy is what we like to call a Local Biz Hero, a self-made entrepreneur who brings true value to his community. High standards of professionalism and the strong work ethics of small business owners like Andy are the infrastructures of Elizabeth’s economy.

Every dollar that Andy makes goes back to supporting the local business ecosystem and the community as Maffey’s Security Group supports several charities including Trinitas Hospital, Roselle Catholic High, Boy Scouts of America, as well doing long term volunteer work with Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce and Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Andy has been married for 33 years. He has a beautiful family with his wife, Patricia, and three kids. He loves to travel, spend time on the beach with his family, and play golf. What he loves about Elizabeth city is that it keeps developing. Now it has a New Train Station and Great Police Department – always growing.

We sat down with Andy for a quick interview –

Q: How did you get into this profession?

A: It’s my family business. My grandfather put the seeds of this business at the age of 15 in Austria in 1910. It’s been carried forward for three generations.

Andy holds multiple certifications in the security field, such as the Medeco Security Center Certificate & Award and the Small Bus of the Year Gateway Chamber.

Q: What is the main problem that you solve for your customers?

A: Armed with the latest knowledge, tools, and strategies, we offer a comprehensive range of cost-effective and customized security solutions to ensure that our security management is aligning with our customers’ business goals

Under Commercial Security Services, we offer both Electronic and Hardware, while under Residential Security Services, we offer only Hardware.

Q: What is the most significant event that ever happened to you, and what did you learn from it?

A: The day I took over the legacy of the Maffey business legacy. My father, Mr. Charlie, kept coming into the office for his whole life until the age of 95. I knew I had a huge responsibility on my shoulders to help safeguard properties, people, and confidential information. I had the vision to keep the business up and running by providing unmatched security services to our customers. I tend to go beyond the break/fix model and offer long-term solutions to address the business challenges of customers.

Q: If you could share one tip with the readers for choosing a Security business, what would it be?

A: Rely on those who had been in the business long enough as they know the ins and outs of the security business and who focus on understanding your issues from a personal level.
